Default 40.7 mpg

According to my C7 dashboard, I used my 1,000th gallon of gas. At 40,692 miles traveled, that works out to 40.7 miles per gallon! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

If I put one gallon of gas in my car and dropped it from an altitude of 40.7 miles up while idling it would run out before it hit the ground.

If you are getting that kind of MPG out of the car, yours is one of a kind C7.

If that were even remotely accurate, it sounds like a personal problem to me, driving a sports car!

as long as you don't start any trans-oceanic flights relying solely on the instrument cluster gauges in a GM car, i'll say more power to you!

Good deal bud. Since I have no evidence to the contrary, your story is valid. So, stick to it.......

Fuel logger probably stops at 1000 gallons, much like the "accumulated information" stops at 10000 miles and the hours roll over to 0.0 after 99.9 hours.

My experience is that GM MPG displays always read high. From near zero to about 1 MPG on my C7 on each tank of gas. It was worse on the ex's Pontiac. I calculate it from the trip odometer, which I reset to zero at fill up, and gallons pumped on almost every fill up. Not super scientific but the calculation is always lower than what the car's instrumentation is indicating.
