I use a steamer and some 3M adhesive remover is your best bet in these situations. I also tend to use denatured alcohol. I find it helps after the adhesive remover. The film is not going to come off in one section, so it’s important to work only the small area you’re focusing on. Try pulling off on a 45 degree angle.
I’ve us d a heat gun many times and it works great. Can usually get the film in one piece and the glue comes with. But......be very careful as a heat gun produces lots of heat. It only needs a light pass to work. Takes some practice but it works amazing.
