I’m planning a couple thousand mile C7 road trip in June. I’m curious about how important do you think it is to take along jacking pucks? The car is not equipped with run flats.
i see them sold individually, in pairs or in sets of 4. Some are aluminum, others polyurethane.
Do you suggest a certain number, manufacturer or material?
I need to get a strap and / or tow hook just in case a flat bed is required. However I do keep an allen key that fits the puck bolts in the glove box (along with a small LED flashlight) this way I could remove them if needed. They allen key is so small there is no reason to not keep in the car.
With the C7 the pucks aren't as necessary as they were with the C5 where the opening in the SMC panel was so small they were absolutely required to keep from cracking it around the rear shipping slots. The C6 had the space around the rear shipping slots opened up more and with careful placement of the lift pads you could get by lifting the car without the pucks. The C7 has even more space around the rear shipping slots so pucks really aren't required. They were never required for the front shipping slots on the C5 or C6 since there is no panel near them.
With some lifts the presence of side skirts could force the use of pucks so the lift isn't lifting the car with the side skirts instead of the frame. It all depends on the design of the lift arms and the pads being used on the lifting end.
These appear to be the same as the $39.99 ones. These come in one color and the expensive ones have a different color selection. I ordered a set of these pictured from Amazon so we will see. Picture is from Amazon.

I use a set of snap in BMW jacking pucks on mine, just like I did on my C5. They work well and can just remain on the car all the time.I do believe some of the forum vendors sells a similar product.
The pucks are fine but the nut blocks need to have a tap run through them to work!
