Can anyone answer if the Z51 option is covered under the 5/60 power train warranty? I'm looking at a 17 A8 with Z51 private sale. The dealerships are giving me conflicting answers.
Thanks!
If the car has been maintained and operated in accordance with the Owner Manual, all the Z51 parts will be covered except the usual wear stuff like brake pads.
On the C7, Z51 is a separate model like Grand Sport or Convertible; it's not an "option".
EDIT: Consider this event to be your first experience with the Ignorance of Dealerships.

OP, be sure to run a VIS report at one of those dealerships to see what repairs, maintenance has been performed. That report should also state if the warranty has been voided for any reason.
If the car was "born" with the Z51 option (it's an option, not a model) the entire car is covered like any other models.
If, however, the car was born a stingray and someone down the line added Z51 parts to it, then the dealer "could" refuse to cover these parts since they were not part of the car originally.
I'm pretty sure that's the only situation (aside from normal wear and abuse) where warranty work would be denied.

I recall the Z51 as being considered a "model" back in 2017, but can't verify that. Today, it is not.
In the current Chevrolet website, they list the types of choices as "Models", "Trims", and "Options". The Z51 is shown as a "Trim", not a "Model" and not an "Option".
The Chevy lawyers would say that none of us were correct.

Trim levels are simply different versions of the same model with different features and equipment.
Correct.
But GM does not call them “models “ or “options “
To GM, a “Trim” is something different from a model or an option, like it’s in between.
Interesting.
