Default Buy or Pass?

So, I'm looking at the GS shown below. It's a 2LT, and it's got the dual roof option, PDR, plus everything else you see in the photo. It's exactly the color combo I want. (Although I like Chrome wheels better, but the black ones are growing on me.)

The dealer informed me that the front drivers side fender was replaced because the transporter damaged it when backing off of the truck at delivery. Cosmetically, the car is perfect and I wouldn't know that there was damage to the car unless I was told. However, I'm wondering about how this will effect the long term value of the vehicle.

The dealer is offering me 17% off of the car, plus a pretty aggressive number for my trade. They are also guaranteeing the repair work.

If I buy this car, I intend to keep it for at least ten years, and will put about 5K a year on it.

My alternative is to order essentially the same car from one of the forum dealers, although, the same car, without the dual roof option (which I like) and the PDR (which I'll never use) will cost approximately $1300 more all said and done.

What do you guys say? Buy or pass?

$1,300 over a ten year period isn't that much. Depends on how much that peace of mind, means to you...if you are wondering about the accident. Plus if you order one, you can get those gross chrome wheels you prefer (hahahah!).

HAHA I know, I was dead set on chrome until I saw this car. I gotta say, black is growing on me.

If you don’t buy this one, you’d better place your order VERY soon before they stop taking orders for C7’s. The one on the lot is very nice, even with the black wheels. And you may find yourself using the PDR to record in the event that you are involved in an accident, God Forbid. Good luck whatever you decide.

As long as it's just cosmetic and not structural damage i guess it would be okay.Did you check pricing and inventory with the big 3 Dealers?
I hated Black rims till I saw my GS with all the Carbon Flash. It's a no brainer.

Absolutely you should see if you can run BOTH a carfax on this car and an autocheck to see if the fender replacement shows up as an accident. If it does, run away from this deal. If it doesn't show up then do what you prefer. Also, I'd run the VIN report to see if the fender repair shows up there (it probably does). The Carfax and the Autocheck reports are important because if they indicate the car was in an accident or damaged, it will hurt your value down the road when you want to trade/sell.
Otherwise, go for it.

Yeah, I live near Criswell and bought my current Corvette from them. My alternative is to order a car from them, although they "only" give a 12% discount on factory orders and I don't know if they're going to be as aggressive on the trade in price for my current Corvette since they will have me captive. I'm kind of looking at the "big picture" here. When I bring this dealer's offer for trade in into consideration, it is a pretty good deal, indeed.

17% off include Corvette loyalty? Kerbeck is advertising 16% off NOT including loyalty incentive...so depending on MSRP could be 20% off with loyalty. Don’t believe Kerbeck is the best for trades though..

What are they giving you on trade? Will it defer taxes in your state?

Might be a good deal or just ok.

Personally, if I’m buying a forever car I’d be hesitant to accept one that has transport damage w/replacement fender.

As long as it's not on the Carfax. $1300 more to order one without having to worry about the damage repair down the road is not that much. You say you're going to keep it for 10 years but that seems to change from my experience on this forum. People end up selling them shortly after they buy them.

I would not buy a new car that had a repaint. But that is just me.

Many people driving new cars are driving with repaint and repair work. If the repair cost doesn’t meet a certain cost it doesn’t have to be reported. At least your dealer was honest and upfront with it.

Honestly if you are keeping it for 10 years and it sounds like you like the deal I would buy it.
