I've been trying to convince myself that I could live with paddle shifters when the C8 comes out but I know deep down that I wouldn't be happy with it. So I thought I would upgrade my 1LT Z51 M7 while they're still taking factory orders. Stopped by and placed an order for a 2LZ Z06 M7 with Mike Furman this morning. Gonna be a long 6 week wait.
You'll wonder why you waited so long to get a ZO6. I traded my C6 4LT 6M Grand Sport for a '19 ZO6/ZO7 3LZ 7M coupe, and I'm loving the car. I'm doing the wait and see thing on the C8, but the lack of a manual transmission could be a deal breaker for me, assuming I like the C8 as much as I like my C7Z. That being said, it sounds like the first batch of C8's will be base models, so I'd consider that a downgrade and would likely wait until the more HP versions became available. That 6 weeks will be gone in no time, then you'll have the rest of the summer to enjoy the ZO6. Great choice and good luck!
Great move, I got my 2019 Z06 M7 Convertible a year ago. Traded in my 2015 Stingray M7 Convertible. You will not believe the power of the Z06, the 650 pounds of torque makes sure that 650hp is there instantly. It is a completely different driving experience, really difficult to put into words. Let me say it is truly a beauty and a beast.
I have a base M7 and have toyed with the idea of upgrading to a Z06 M7. I am hoping against hope that there will eventually be a C8 manual in a convertible. Back in 2013 I scratched my head when I stay people getting a C6 with a completely new model coming out. I have a problem getting a soon to be older style vette as a new car.

Totally understand where you're coming from. I like to have the latest and greatest models as well. Problem is it seems like there's a very good chance that the C8 won't ever offer a manual trans. If that's the case at least I'll have a top tier C7 with all the bells and whistles I could ever want. If GM does decide to offer a manual C8 in the future I can always trade in for it. It'll cost me but at least I'll have options.
You're going to love it. I know of three people now that have ordered and in the pipeline the C7 Z06 or GS. I understand that there has been a run on the "last front end engine Corvette" of sorts. I enjoy the heck out of mine, also a Mike Furman customer.
They're really nice, and better than I expected. They look good, are unique and are easy to maintain. They're also a nice alternative between chrome and black.
Delivery day for me as well from Mike, my trade in and the Z. When I left the dealer to go home, turned onto the access ramp to the interstate and gave it a little gas and whoa, it wanted to fly. I said to the honey, oh, this is not the '14, I'm going to have to acclimate myself to all this power...........it took about 5 seconds.
I’m going through the same thing right now, waiting on my 1lz that I built to come in. I’ve been going crazy wondering if I made a mistake not going with a 2LZ. I went through Mike Furman, I was at 3000 order Status and he told me it was impossible to upgrade to a 2LZ which sucked.
Anybody think I’ll regret not getting a 2LZ?
Another upgrader here. Placed a Z06 M7 order with Mike Furman a little over a week ago. Same reasons as most of the others. Wanted to get one of the last FE manuals just the way I wanted it before it’s too late.
I view C7 to C8 differently than prior transitions between generations. The last several have been evolutionary where clearly this next one will be revolutionary. It will be a different platform and experience altogether. That’s not a bad thing, in fact I’m sure it will be awesome and I’m really just happy the brand continues because there was no guarantee. That said, it’s just not the change I’m looking for at this moment, possibly someday. Until then, plenty of smiles to come.

Yes, can't make changes if it's at 3000. You'll be fine with 1LZ.
