C7 comfort or lack of on long trips (FIX)
Hi,
I don't have a fix but was wondering if anyone had addressed this issue. I love my C7. It's fun to drive and for day trips the car is amazing. However, if you want to take her out on the road for 7, 8 or more hours the car is not comfortable. I know the car is a sports car and I get that and love that about the car. However, I would like to get more comfort. I was thinking of having the seats re-done. The heated seats aren't that good to begin with so if I had to lose that function I would be fine. I was thinking of making the seat more cushioned. The 2nd issue which I don't believe can be fixed is the amount of recline that the passenger seat allows. It's hard to sleep when the your partner is driving. Yeah I know I'm crazy but was wondering if anyone has addressed this issue or do you just take a more comfortable cruiser on longer trips?

It would be helpful to know what aspects of your C7 you consider to be uncomfortable, and what you would change about the seats.
For me, the seats are fine and the interior room is not great but is adequate.
My biggest "comfort" issue is the noise.
Your preferences may be entirely different. Everyone's butt is different.
As a note on seats, I spent most of my adult life flying airliners, and you spend a lot of time in the cockpit seats. I found that both the Boeing and Douglas seats up front felt just "ok" when I first sat down, but 6 hours later they still felt ok. Softer is not always better, the C5 and C6 were softer but, to me, less comfortable.

Wish I could help you, but the longest trip I have made so far in mine (had it since 11/18) has been 4 hours roundtrip. I have found the seats comfortable for that distance/time. Hope that I can take a longer trip soon so I can see what the seats are like then.

Took my 14 Z51 (stock seats) cross country for the 2014 NCC and it was VERY comfy for me. Then again, I ain't 6'4" and 300 pounds either
My '19 GS is just as comfy for me

Nothing uncomfortable for me or my wife in the C7 on long trips. When we go on a road trip, it is more about the journey than the destination. No Interstates, just state highways (or old US routes like Route 66). Passenger doesn't want to sleep. IF we just need to get to a destination, we fly. Or, in the rare event that we have a destination and the journey is nothing special, we take the SUV.

Lots of adjustment on those seats.....
Longest trip I've taken is 6200 miles, second longest 5900..... got 85K on my '15...... 1300 mile trips for me are a regular event for me..... longest single day I've spent behind the wheel is 13 hours.... I'm 77...... play with the seat adjustments......

I agree with some of you who find that the C7 isn't the most comfortable car on the road. I've made many day trips and a few longer trips, my longest has been 5600 miles in 15 days. I'm 5'6, 160 lbs., so I'm not exactly filling up the spaces. I drive a '15 base coupe, 3LT. My problem is comfort over the long haul. I can be comfortable for a while but can't find many ways to change my position and remain comfortable. Add to that the conscious effort to keep my pointy elbows off the console and arm rest, or try to keep a microfiber towel under them elbows, and the trip becomes just a little tedious. But just a little. I remind myself I didn't buy this car for it's comfort, I bought it for it's exciting driving experience and stylish design. Then I grin and push that right pedal just a little harder.

The driver's seat bottom is too small for my fat butt. The passenger seat is a little wider and is fine. I wonder why the 2 seats are different. I can only take the driver's seat for a 1/2 hour or so before I start to squirm. No problem in the C5 or the C6.

It's interesting to get everyone's take on what is comfort or lack of. I guess the deal is to use the BMW X5 that is about to be bought for longer trips and use the C7 for day trips. The seats are fine for a few hours but I would love to get rid of the side bolsters and have a more comfortable seat all around. I still think GM should option the C7 for serious drivers and then put out a cruiser model for those of us who would prefer a more quiet car with comfy seats. That said you really can't appreciate the car and its handling until you take it on a curvy mountain road. We are moving to NC so I drove the C7 down to the new house and while the new Ford Ranger that I had rented was fun to drive it handled not so well on curvy roads with lots of body roll while the C7 shined, was fun and firmly planted to the road. Even my wife said that if I had told her there was a difference in handling on mountain roads she wouldn't have believed me but she drove both and said that the C7 was actually fun for her on mountain roads while the Ranger was more of a chore.

I've taken my C7 on long trips from SW Florida to Eastern PA and back over 5 times, plus trips all thru Florida, Georgia, the Carolina's and Virginia and as far as I'm concerned, it's a great road car plus I get better gas mileage than 85% of the cars on the road.

No problems with comfort in my Corvette, it is as comfortable as I would expect from a sportscar.

Just did 2400 miles in 3 days.. 1 in a coup to trade for my vert.. The Vert is WAY MORE Quite and therefore more comfortable on longer drives.
The seats can be a pain.. Mine were on my thighs, everything else was comfy for the whole trip.. I am 6.2 and 200 and the seats fit like a glove and they get better after 15 to 20,000 miles...

I bought my used C7 in NJ and drove it to FL = 1,200 miles in 2 long days. The interior is a bit tight and reachable storage is limited. So I moved my cargo net to the front, this way my wife could twist in her seat to reach drinks, snacks, magazines, etc. I am tall and thin so my only issue is that my knees hit the steering column. The C7 is more comfortable and quieter then my previous car... so everything is relative. I think the seats are great, not as good as a Volvo or my Prelude, so maybe the 3rd best of all the cars I've owned. The lumbar and shoulder area doesn't seem to align well with my body type, but cushion density is spot on - not too firm, not too soft.

I have GT seats and the trip from Kansas City to Bowling Green is 8 hours. I get out of the car in St. Louis (4 hours away) to refuel and stretch and then drive the other 4 hours. I have no problems whatsoever.
