Default Questions on wheels

It seems that one solution to bending/cracking of Z06 wheels is to change wheel sizes such that there is more tire between the wheels and the road (18 or 19 inch wheels on all four corners).

How would this setup affect the rake of the car and the accuracy of the speedometer? My Z06 is lowered on stock bolts, so I assume the back would have to come up to keep the rake? And can the speedometer be recalibrated?

Thanks.

If you go to 18” front, 19” rears you could go with a higher sidewall (aspect ratio) and pretty much keep the same overall height of your tires. There are tire size calcurators out there to assist you with your tire size selections.

I can highly recommend TireRack for that kind of information. They are experts at exactly what you need to do to change tire and wheel sizes and keep everything else sitting at stock settings.

I've been told that the C 7 base (18/19) and Z51 (19/20) have virtually the same outside diameter because of the different aspect ratios, and can be used interchangeably without confusing the car.
Some folks say there can be clearance issues with the brakes/wheels/weights.

OTOH, damage like in the photo might not be prevented by just a little more sidewall height. Two different tires, one per year.
But so far I'm not hearing of tire damage or bent wheels on base cars.

The issues being discussed are why I stayed with the factory size 18/19 when I bought my TSW wheels and Michelins from Discount Tire Direct. Very satisfied.
