Navigation update ??????
The nav system in my 2016 lead me astray last weekend when I was leaving Pataskala, Ohio going south to Route 33. It looked like a new interchange had been made and the nav didn't know it, but my "trusty" printout from Google maps saved the day. I know about Apply Car Play using Google maps, but I don't want to go that way - long story. I see the GM maps update is now $99. Has anyone used the update and how updated is it?

I've always thought that the NAV systems in our C7's were absolute crap... The update won't help...trust me.
Use your phone for GPS - it won't get you lost and you never have to pay for updated maps...

If there's a lot of new construction you are concerned about it might be worth updating since yours is 3 years old but I don't think you should count on the update being very current. The GM navigation doesn't seem to know about a lot of things that it should - sometimes I use POIs that don't exist anymore just because GM doesn't know about newer ones nearby.

I updated the Nav on my '14 last January - maps were original from 2013. The update did have some of the more recent changes included, but I would say any changes in the past 6 months or so will not be shown in the update.

Google updated my maps yesterday Until car companies start updating the apps in the cars every time a phone connects they are obsolete within 6 months..

I updated my 2016, and it worked great, it had the new roads I was looking for. The system is a antique by many standards, but I like how it is integrated in to the HUD & Infotainment Display, for $99.00, it was worth it to me.

Nav Update
Just received new update for nav. for $99.00 for 2017 Z06. Haven't installed it yet. Instructions say let car idle for the 50 minute install. Called Chevy, they say car has to be running and not moving. Not to crazy about having car sit that long while its loading , but I guess that's what I'm going have to do.

Others have also said a message pops up on the screen that the car can be driven while it's loading the NAV update.
I wouldn't want to let it sit idling for 50 minutes or more .......

30 mins later, I was home, so I let it idle in the garage (with the door open of course) for the last 20 mins until it completed.
No problem. If your car is operating correctly, even letting it idle for the full 50 minutes won't hurt a thing.

More seriously, none of the existing systems are perfect. Everyone needs to pick the combination of advantages and disadvantages that works best for them.

Mayor 111,
I disagree. I paid for the update and it vastly improved voice commands and the database has more POI's and can find them easier. I live in Wyoming and Google Maps has routed people miles past their destination due to inaccuracies. No navigation system is fool proof however my new install found a family relative out in the prairie that doesn't have paved roads and is very new. I'm happy with the upgrade and I much prefer an in car system over phones which quit at the wrong time due to lost service. I also prefer where it shows up in the head up display so I don't have to take my eyes off the road to watch a 3.5 inch screen. I will do the next upgrade in 3 years or so.
Just my 2 cents worth.
