Thanks again for all of the tips. The glass sunroof got etched with acid rain when we went out to visit our friends in upstate NY. We stayed a few days without using the car and it rained, sun came out, rained, sun, etc.
Thanks,
Rich
My '18 coupe had a stubborn "film" on the outside of all of the glass. It was more than water spots, although I could see water tracks and spots in it. I have no idea where it came from. My car is parked in the garage. Wife's car (parked outside) doesn't have it and my neighbors don't have it.I tried Windex, Rain-x, vinegar, and even Bon Ami scouring powder -- NOTHING WOULD TOUCH this residue/film. Today I used a product I recommended in this thread and I removed the film in just a few minutes: DuraGloss 755. I ordered it from durgloss.com.
I dont know where you could buy this, but glass polish that they use on polishing out the grind marks on glass lenses for eyeglasses should take care of everything including some scratches
Wet the sponge some more so the Bon Ami dissolves into it
Scrub the windows with the Bon Ami soaked sponge
rinse windows
Bon Ami works great. I bought a huge can of it at Walmart for $1.50 and still have most of it left after a year.
After the Bon Ami application, I go over the whole windshield with SprayAway glass cleaner and a clean microfiber towel.
After that, I spray more glass cleaner and clay bar the windshield. Then, one more wipe down with a clean towel.
Finally, I apply Griot's Glass Sealant. I previously used Adam's glass sealant but Griot's works just as well and you get twice as much for half the price. The resulting windshield is perfectly clean and sealed. You won't even need windshield wipers during rain.

Bon Ami Powder Cleanser (gold label) is not recommended for windows, mirrors, or other glass surfaces.
However, Bon Ami 1886 Original Formula Cleaning Powder (red can) IS recommended for windows, mirrors, glass-ceramic cooktops, vintage auto windshields (not modern windshields which often have coatings), shower and oven doors, other non-decorative glass surfaces, and many other hard surfaces.
I have been fighting this problem on my 2017 Z06 rear window for a long time. After reading these posts, I clayed it using Invisible Glass, glass cleaner...It looks like new! Thanks for the information!
