You can choose between an absolutely loaded C7 with every possible option OR a basic/"stripped" C8......choose wisely.....(especially if a manual tranny is involved)
I don't want an absolutely loaded C7 (even if there were such a thing) and I don't want a C8 basic/stripped or otherwise. At least until the second/third model year.

Even the base model C7 is hardly stripped compared to most vehicles. I've got a 1LT auto, and really about all I would add to it if possible would be heated seats and steering wheel. The other stuff that loads it up is nice, but not worth the money for the way I use it.

I have no interest in getting a completely loaded car. There are just some options I do not want so no need to pay for them. A base C8 should be a lot less than a completely loaded C7 and I can live with either type of tranny. Fortunately, it is not a decision I am faced with as I am happy with my C7 at this time.
I guess if I absolutely had to choose though, I would probably go with the C8.
I choose C7 ZR1. I believe, once the newness wears off and the maintenance costs set in, (rumor has it GM has cut the freebie to only 1 year), the C7 will have a better resale value down the road. (Hint, substitute C8 for ME porsche in this vid)

Easy.
a) First model year of anything is a bad gamble.
b) Manual is a must for me.
c) I like having the bells and whistles.
I wanted a fully loaded 3LT Z51 "narrow body" Stingray with a stick. I searched around, and got exactly what I wanted. I ended up finding an absolutely mint '15, at a price much below what a new one would run me, so I bought it. I have zero interest in the C8. I have wanted a Corvette since I was a toddler and saw my first one back in the 70's. I have zero interest in the C8, and candidly don't even think it should be called a Corvette. It's just the wrong recipe on multiple levels.
Since you can't get a C8 right now I would take the loaded C7, which you can get now. I would drive the C7 for a few years letting others work the kinks out of the C8 and then start looking at the C8s.
I would take the loaded C7 right now, then just wait a few years to see what shakes out with the C8. With all that extra real estate in the engine compartment, the Z06 variant is going to be awesome, whatever it is going to be. I'm hoping for a small displacement DOHC TT V8. That would be pretty darn cool.
My C7 is fully loaded with the manual transmission. It is the perfect car for me and I have absolutely zero interest in a mid-engine car, so it is clear which direction I would go.
A decision based on " something vs nothing ". How can an intelligent choice be made when the chosen object isn't available ? Making a career choice for someone nearly ready for birth would be similar.
