Tow hook. It's not missing, not included with the car. Also, with a 2014 you don't have a threaded receiver for it.

Which model years are supposed to have these? I had this foam piece knocking around in the trunk of my '15 when I bought it also.

It is in the cars that go overseas. I don't think the US cars get the tow hook.

Not quite. My understanding is that the Z51 has the receiver but the base car doesn't

Does anyone know where this foam piece is even supposed to sit? It was just rattling around in the storage area when I got the car.

It covers the battery in the rear under the carpet.

I got curious today and checked my 2014 for a tow hook receptacle. None to be found.

...aaaaaaaand you have a removeable panel right where a tow hook would go IF YOU had a hook receptacle! You also have a hole where the PDR camera would have gone had we the option to get that item. The 14s missed out on tow hook, PDR, A8, and front cameras.

The 2014 and I think 2015 Z51 did not have the receiver. The Z06 and my 2017 GS have receivers. This is a pic of one I bought from forum vendor http://wwwzl1addons.com

Better than the cheep GM simple "eye hook," for ~ the same price.

ONLY INSTALLED FOR CAR SHOW. Doesn't fit in foam battery cover recess but fits fine in rear cubby.

With a "2104" I suspect you can just press the levitate button if you need it moved during track days... if the GM produced button happens to be working that day.

Yep it's for adding things like Techron. It holds the gas filler flap open. But I store mine I the rear compartment.

Good chance of ripping the carpet every time you have to pull that unbound section of carpet from under the plastic wheel well cover! In fact when I need to get the carpet out, to access battery or rear fuse panel, I pop off the bottom clips and pull the bottom of the plastic wheel well cover off first! Bottom clips are 3 inches up from the carpet and it pops back in with the side of your hand.

NOTE WOOD IS JUST FOR TAKING PIC. CAN PULL PLASTIC FROM CLIP WITH FINGERS. THEN HOLD PLASTIC OUT WHILE REMOVING UNBOUND CARPET.
