Default 3LT dash

I'm looking to move up to a 2014 Stingray. I wanted the 3LT but.....concerned about the leather coming loose on the dash that I've heard about. What do I look for to avoid the problem???

Just don't get a 3lt. I'm on my second dash and it's doing it again. But if you must have a 3lt look at all the seams and try to make sure it was sitting in the sun so its hot and most obvious. Pay close attention to the defrost vent and dash trim areas.

My 2014 that I bought new is a daily driver in Texas. I have no dash issues. I do use a reflective windshield sunscreen and I crack the windows open unless it is expected to rain. I should also note that I do not have the transparent roof. The combination of the sunscreen and cracking the windows open keeps the interior temperature way lower than not taking these steps. I wish we had good data about how the cars with the problem were handled. Did they sit out on a dealer's lot for months, do they have the transparent top, did the owners use a windshield sunscreen, etc.?

I got mine used so I have no idea how protected it was before I got it. After the first dash was replaced I started using that 80.00 reflective sun shade and it's garage kept. I do crack the windows like you mentioned but I also have a transparent top. It's been less than a year since it was last replaced, most of which was garaged during the winter and it's starting to show signs of delaminating again. If it were up to me id have gotten a 2lt

I think you will get more responses from 3LT owners who have had issues than from those who have had none.

i have a 3LT and no issues.

Same here... but I must admit the reports have me worried. I got mine used and the previous owner appeared to keep it in a garage, plus had the windshield tinted. I added a reflective sunshade because its now a daily driver that lives outside in very sunny FL.

40,000 miles worth of Georgia sunshine on my 2014 and no issue with my dash. Use Zanio leather conditioner once a month and I use my windshield sun screen whenever I am leaving the car out in the sun for several hours... car is garage kept.

Keep the leather moist and in the shade as much as you can... Should be fine for several more years..

Hi! I'm also a Florida owner who parks his 3LT in his driveway. I've gotten that ceramic clear front tint, and I use a sunshade on mine. I also condition the leather. No cracks yet (knocks on wood!).

It does look good, but isn't your C7 practically new? Not sure it's a very good example supporting the NO Issue side of the discussion at this very early stage of it's existence.

Mine is three years old. Garage kept when at home. The last ear it has sat in the airport parking lot for about 14 days per month. In December, I had a near-transparent ceramic tint put on the windshield. Other than that I haven’t done anything else...no window shade. Daily driver with 18k miles in 3 years. Dash is still fine.

If you're looking at 2014's and the problem hasn't come up yet, you should be in pretty good shape. It seems most that have had the problem (myself included), had the issue within a few years.

My 2014 was a 3LT - not one issue with its interior...ever! I'll also add, that I dont just clean my leather with water (like the manual suggestions). I always use a leather cleaner & conditioner...to help avoid ANY leather issues:

Bought my 2014 3LT Z51 in December 2013. Brownstone interior. No issues anywhere.
Toying with getting a new Z06. Definitely want the 3LZ package if I do.

2015 3lt with 32k miles daily driver garage kept mine has started to delaminates this year. Bubble under dash right in the center of where it curves up on passenger side. Since I’m out of Warrenty I doubt I’ll get any help with replacement, but I will try for assistance and await a class action lawsuit for the issue just like with the c6 4lt issue.

2014 3LT owner here with no issues.
Daily driver with 50k miles including lots of road trips.

Factors in my favor:
Convertible, thus no big glass in the back or on the roof magnifying the sun.
All 4 windows tinted, though I don't know if the windshield has ceramic tint.
Reflective sun shade.
Garaged at home.
I condition the leather about once per year.
I live in a northern climate (Michigan).
And who knows? Maybe the bright yellow paint absorbs less heat from the sun and helps keep the interior cooler than in darker cars.
