Yep, I had one on my 2014 C7 for 3 years no issue. Then I bought a Grand Sport and the manufacturer changed. Same product. Had it on for 6 months and started to buzz. Bad at certain rpms where I was getting near the natural frequency! Because I had trouble with the chrome boot grommet and the screw, I decided to solve my problem with an MGW "Flat Stick" shifter! Great shifter! It uses a screw on ****. Bought the same 2 1/4 inch diameter full cue ball size ****. Have had for ~1 year. 25% less stroke and smooth as silk! PS: Of interest, I could feel the OEM shifter vibration by grabbing though the shift boot. The buzz would stop. With the MGW high quality shifter there is no vibration felt through the shift boot!
I had one on my C6 that started to rattle. I took it off and just put a piece of electrical tape at the top of the shaft to tighten the fit. Stopped the rattling. So I put a piece on there when I installed one on the C7 about 3 months ago. It hasn't rattled yet.
I've swapped out shift ***** of all sorts on scads of cars over the decades and not had a problem with rattle. So, can you determine what part is actually doing the rattling?
Given that and having no clue what is going on with yours, I will say when I put a shortened Hurst shifter in my C5 with my own custom drilled/tapped Belgium pool-ball **** I added three "drill stops" on the shaft under the boot as dampeners because I'd read that the Hurst could "buzz." Mine never has... 18 years later.

All the best finding out what's going on.
They buzz because they aren’t screwed on. They just slide on and are not that tight. That’s why I wrap with Teflon tape.
