I picked up a new 2019 GS Vert yesterday and on the drive home I noticed the HUD is tilted to the right. Is there an adjustment for this or do I have to go to the dealer? Here's a pic of the new ride. I don't have a pic of the tilted HUD
There is no owner adjustment available. Many have reported similar since C7 launch. Some attribute it to visual sloping hoodline, my 2016 Z is inclined slightly I think...don’t really notice anymore.
I’d just live with it. If it is seriously bad, dealer can adjust I believe, but it comes with major dash surgery so consider how bad it is.
Perhaps it is different with various year C7s, but on my 2018 Z06 I can adjust the angle of the image using the steering wheel controls.
You press the left arrow to get into the cluster applications and scroll down to Options. Press Select to enter the Options menu. You will see Head-up Display (HUD) Rotation as one of the choices.
On the steering wheel DIC controls there is an adjustment screen to make it level. I had to rotate mine all the way to the up position to get it to appear horizontal. On my 2017 that I traded in for the 2019, the HUD was more to the left than it is on the 2019. Left/right adjustment of the HUD is unavailable.
While in the options menu, press
or to scroll to the HUD rotation
page. Press while Head-Up
Display Rotation is highlighted to
enter Adjust Mode.
Press or to adjust the angle of
the HUD display. Press SEL to save
the setting. To cancel the setting,
press . The vehicle must be in
P (Park). See Instrument Cluster

My 2014 3lt base is off a bit I'll see if I can adjust it, thanks for the tip, just got it last fall wasn't too concerned with it
'14s do not have this option.
The fix did not come out until so many here complained about it. Since they added an adjustment, this is the first thread I think I've seen about the subject.
It was one of the things I adjusted when initially setting up the car to my preferences. I assumed it was possible to adjust as other cars I have had with a HUD have been adjustable as to position and orientation.
It's been discussed before (the rotation with 18+ models).
However, it's not "really" crooked. The lines of the hood makes you think it's not level. It's annoying (for us that can't adjust the rotation) but when you know it's not really crooked, it's easier to live with.
Always improving the vette. they have this guy, Mort, on the BG assembly line whose job it is to align/straighten the HUD. you'll recognize him when you see him, glasses with lenses like coke bottles, underneath his dirty all the time safety glass lenses. Been there forever, retired in place, shop steward says he sits. So the process engineer took a look at this issue and says, "hey, program in one more adjustability control into the HUD software!" Case closed.
Heard Old Mort is going to be promoted, shop steward concurs: Special instructor to Mary Barra's 400 new C8 hires, in charge of teaching them everything he knows about building vettes. First exercise: how to smudge your safety glass lenses.
Thank you everyone, I'll straighten that puppy out tomorrow
Yep, unlike prior to 2018 C7's you have an adjustment. BUT bet that puppy is level!
It's a perception! Here is a test that many have used to "get their mind straight!"
Put a level on the upper dash pad and see that you are parked where the car and it are level.
Then look at the HUD relative to the flat section on the upper dash pad! Bet it's level. The problem is the curved fender and hood you're tying to compare "level' with.
Reminded of when my wife wants me to use a level to install a picture. Level with the center of the earth is irrelevant as the room molding etc may not be "perfectly level!" Your eye is best.
Also the Greeks understood the issue thousands of years ago and when they built temples. They had many columns (that was prior to the Romans "inventing"the arc" so columns could be spaced further apart!) Two "perfectly parallel columns will not look that way! So they determined that making a slight bulge top to bottom avoided a direct parallel comparison!
However "Perception is Reality" and GM finally caved in and provided an adjustment.
Curious when you "straighten out that puppy" if you check with a level on the upper dash pad, is it level with it? However don't want to mess up your mind if you try and fine it''s not!
My 2019 Z06 had a HUD that was not level. Thanks to the help from this forum, I was able to rotate the HUD and level it. It was really easy using the steering wheel controls and the OPTIONS section. Under OPTIONS, I selected HUD and simply pressed the up arrow and watched the HUD rotate.
On my '17 GS, I can adjust it up or down, but there is no rotational adjustment. I think it is an optical illusion due to the sloping angle of the hood. After a while I just got used to it.
