Default Is this normal amount of problems

2016 Z51 LT2 coupe with mag ride...

The purpuse of this post is not to complain but to share and understand reliability and quality of my/our cars.

The car has 12K now and these are the repairs so far:

-Engine replaced at 8K
-Engine wiring harness replaced at 8K
-Windshield washer pump replaced 9K
-Front shock replaced 11K
-Torque converter fluid change due to shutter issue 10K.
-Mag ride Software update 10K, optinal but neccesary.
-Exhoust heat shield replaced 11K
-The armrest replaced 12K
-Torque tube is scheduled to be replaced at 12K
-Also the roof back weatherstip needs replacement soon.

I had a caddy CTS before the vette and i had to change the water pump and starter at 60K miles right before I traded in but besides that, no probs what so ever...

Is it normal to have this many issues around 10K miles?

I had a 2015 Z51 for just over a year and 18,000 miles. Only issue I had mechanically was brake rotors replaced to the newer style ones. Regular oil changes and then just cosmetic issues outside of that.

So no, I don't think that's normal to have that many issues.

A few of these could be cascade failure from a shoddy engine replacement job

I have to question the purpose of your post when you ask such an obviously loaded question and, quite simply, make such dumbass implication

Do you HONESTLY think it is normal for ANY vehicle to have these many issues?

Dang. Bought new, or maybe it was a used flood car (without your knowledge)?

88,000 miles

Popping top, fixed under warranty
Replaced end links around 60K IIRC
Belt tensioner around 50K

Oh, just had rotors and pads checked.... my tech (same guy for 30 years) said, "As always, you're easy on brakes." Got more than 30% of pads left....

All I can say is that I have 99,880 miles on mine and the only issue I have had is a belt tensioner replacement under warranty. By far and away the most reliable car I have ever owned. And brother, I have owned a lot of them!

The above Corvette is the reason I push buyers to obtain the VIS report before buying. This is unfortunate, but a buyer of a used C7 wants to avoid this car.

I would say this is not normal.

Now our Cadillac experiences are very different. I had a 13 ATS that blew an engine @ 19 thousand miles. GM gave me a new car. The new car lasted 30 thousand miles before they gave me another new one. I bought a 2013 Cadillac and ended up with a 2015 Cadillac with a 14 in between. I then traded the 15 in on my corvette.

You just don’ Know what you’re going to get when you buy anything mass produced. Right now I have a Honda SUV because of its reputation of a quality vehicle and honestly I will be going back to GM for the next one.

Yes. Excellent observation. The reason for the heat shield replacemt was: it lost its rigidness during engine replacment.

While the replacement of the shock is an isolated incident, the torque converter shutter issue is very very common. And mag ride software is something everyone should get imho. But still a weakness at GM part for lausy initial software and 350 charge to update... From what i see on this forum, the windshield washer pump and weatherstrip are also common problems. I have read people replacing their armrest more than once due to elbow marks, which i used to have. And now the new armrest in is a much better quality item leaving no marks.

So i learned that a out of spec criticaltical alignment of the torque tube can cause engine bearing damage... I wonder if a relationship between a shady engine replacement and tourque tube failure.

Yeah... It is somewhat luck... Sorry about your Caddy experience. Out of the things i listed most of them seems to be common... Is getting so many of the common problems normal... Or common, that was my question. Of course with the exception of engine and torque tube replacement.

Jebus.......
It seems that... From the forum, the issues i had are very common with the exception of engine and torque tube. While rest is minor, it seems like i had quite few of them. I am trying to figure out if other people have experienced similar issues simanteniously as I did.

Nobody is making dumbass implications... And obviously i hope it is not normal to change engine or torque tube around 10K...

Do i honestly think it is normal? Well i hope definetly out of the bell curve... But does it exists? Or do i have an unicorn?
