I was assuming that the 3LT package included the ability to send and receive texts. I have the SMS icon. Is there a special way or setting that must be performed? How do I tell if I have the feature?

Connect your mobile phone via Bluetooth.

Did you pair your phone with the car? Sometimes you need to tell the phone to export your contact list in order for SMS to work)

(yes, you have texting - even Text-to-speech)

I have 2LT and always connect my phone via Bluetooth or Android auto and my SMS button doesn't work either. Any instructions anywhere?

That has to be it. I have paired the phone and it works great. I don't remember exporting my contact list though.

Once your Android phone is paired and connected with the Corvette, go into the bluetooth paired devices screen setting in your phone and make sure you enable ---> Message Access in your phone in the settings screen. .

Aren't you supposed to use voice command to SMS text?

Once you have the SMS texting configured, then you can have the incoming texts read to you and you can dictate outgoing text messages using voice commands

Never enabled this feature because I don’t want or need to bother with texts while driving.

You won't, the system will read out messages when car is moving and my phone is always in my pocket, dont
need to see it while using this feature

Thats a feature I don't care for at all. Can turn into a big problem when a passenger gets in the car and all of a sudden a text message comes through the speakers that doesn't need to. lol. I use apple carplay instead and it's a little more forgiving. Still pull the plug on that sometimes too.

I know that feeling all too well. You can disable text alerts on your phone when "certain" people are in your car to prevent that from happening.

If your vette is a 2016 or above, it should be equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Simply plug in your phone to the USB port and you should be good to go. The music sound quality is also much better when plugged in vs using bluetooth without CarPlay or Android Auto.

How does that happen if your passenger's phone isn't paired with the car?

Post refers to the fact that if your texts are announced over the sound system and your passenger hears what might be personal information. For example, a girlfriend gets into your car and a text comes through from another girl where she announces she is pregnant and she thinks it may be "your baby". That could be a sticky situation even if it's a joke.

I think speed4tu means sometimes a passenger hears one of your text messages that is meant for your ears only - i.e., the wife and/or girlfriend sending you PG-13 or R rated love notes.

direct007's example is funnier!

You don't hear message unless you click the listen prompt.
