Oh yes there are many who will not buy an automatic family car transmission. and when Sales start to drop as
they do with all Corvette models without manual the car will sink big time. I am not a know it all forum member but I feel GM will make a manual for the C8 and I will be the first to put a deposit on one . If not then bye bye Corvette.

This should probably be over at the C8 section. That said, I think the 2022 C8 will probably introduce the Z06 version and have fixed the 2020/21s bugs. FE will be a fond memory and many Corvette owners will be butthurt for awhile. Wait until they introduce an electric FE and a (TT or supercharged) bad *** V8 mid. Let's call that one a ZR1. I mean hell, it's still June and we're still speculating, might as well go big.
You mean kind of like they fixed all the issues/bugs in the C7 after five years into production?
I guess there will be a vert introduced at some point-not sure if it will be a rag top in the traditional sense as opposed to some kind of modified targa.
As soon as everyone understands why Mary Barra said the plant will employ 400 more people, over the current 950'ish or so, and start building cars on a 2nd shift....we don't know anything. It doesn't take 400 more people to build an mid engine Corvette, in theoretically similar production numbers. Sure, they may anticipate a buying spike...that's possible, but MAJOR investments are at stake at Bowling Green...GM has dropped major cash into that facility. SOMETHING more is coming outa there beyond mid engine Corvettes...
Could a Cadillac version be announced alongside the C8?
Doubtful. I certainly think that car has been planned, and there are a myriad of indicators, but I think Cadillac is reorganizing and that'll be held off for a bit. I don't think that's necessarily the case, but I think long term, sure...
I think the storage won't be adequate for me. That goes for a Mclaren also. So if I have a pick between two cars that lack storage I'll take the Mclaren. We'll just have to adapt.
Is this your Costco car? How much storage do you need?
I need a spot for a water bottle, my phone, and possibly a CZ-75.
Most corvette owners (sorry demographics) witnessed the rise and fall of the Fiero. So this time it is different? i don't see anything new under the sun. C8's hauled away on tow trucks 6 months before reveal. Porsche adding warnings in their mid-engined owners manuals. "Don't flick a cigarette/cigar butt out the car, you might start an engine fire" Brand new mid engined Ferraris going all crispy (having mass produced mid-engined cars since the Magnum-mobiles of the seventies),
How is it different?
It costs several thousand dollars a weekend, just to drive a sports car fast around a track. REAL competition like the weekend races of the sixties has been self-regulated out of reach of Joe Ordinary by the "our lawyers made us say this SCCA."
Is chevy racing going to initiate miata-class or Porsche-class type competitions for all c8 owners nationwide, or is it the same old push the product out the door and forget about the customer,
business as usual?
This car is for the younger demograhic? How? tactile keyboard on the wheel, multiple hdtv projection HUD's showing twitter, facebook, instagram, etc, instant replay pdr comparing actual drive vs Need for Speed video simulation of that same route, best option; instant uploads to Chevy racing of all C8 drives, culminating in the selection of the best C8 driver being invited to become a driver for the chevy C8R racing team? Be still my beating heart.
I don't envy the young, but if Chevy demographics research division has determined that a more youthful buyer can afford a $65k no frills sports car, puhlease share with us the fast track these kids are on!
I'd ask them myself, but i can't get their addicted eyeballs pulled away from their OLED screen to interact with a real live human, "OMG Some geezer is trying to talk to me - poop emoji"
Billboard noted on the drive down to Florida tonight: "It is illegal in Georgia to look at your cellphone while driving"
And this is the clientele the new C8 is designed for? GOD help us all.
TG i am not joined to Chevy at the hip. As they throw the traditional Corvette owner in the dustbin of irrelevance; i'll just mosey along to "pursue other car interests" after all the c7 extended vette warranties expire, or GM runs out of c7 spare parts, whichever comes first.

My wife and I take long trips in the car. There are several must take items we have to pack. We can barely fit the bare minimum into the C7 coupe.
What we will probably do is buy some disposable items and ship some items to our destinations to get there before we arrive. When my current C7 is ready for disposal I won't be getting another one. Based on all my experience of reading the issues with the car I feel that I was very fortunate to have a trouble free experience with mine. I know the issues are magnified to some degree. But the cars main components like the wheels and drive-train are not the best, except for the manual transmission. I'm just hoping the C8 looks a hell of lot better than what I think it will. And even if it does it would be a couple of years before I would step into one.

As I have said when the topic of FE vs ME comes up GM is not building the ME because they hope the “baby boom” generation will buy it because they are going after the younger generations. The fact is GM can no longer depend on baby boomers to keep the Corvette afloat and the FE Corvette is consider by the younger gens as an “old man’s” sports car. They simply are not major buyers of the FE Corvettes.
I have ask a few millennials what they thought of the C8 and everyone of them said they like what they have seen on line and added said, “finally a Corvette I would buy”.
Most young people today have no interest in sports cars. They are in love with uber. Thats the next generation sports car Uber.
I don’t know where you live but I see a whole lot of young people driving very expensive sports cars and other performance cars where I live. And they love FE cars except the majority of them are out of their price range because they cost over $150K plus.
I’m loving my C7 and don’t share many of the opinions on this thread.
All this talk about Chevy not caring about its corvette customers is just talk. I know my dealer cares and has been awesome to deal with.
I’ve had my worse experience dealing with dealers and manufacturers on my Audi’s and now my Honda. GM has been great to deal with and I’m sure it has a lot to do with my dealer.
As far as C7 issues I know many C7 owners who have had no issues whatsoever and none of them visit this site. I really don’t care about the C8 at this time because I still have about three years of C7 enjoyment left before I will ever consider one.
I feel This new C8 ME Corvette is a very good sign for the Corvette enthusiasts. It is a very good thing that they are putting so much R&D into a totally new car.
How would we feel if GM decided to just discontinue the Corvette like Dodge did with the Viper. The fact that GM is so committed to the Vette should be very comforting for all of us no matter where they locate the engine.
I think we are all in for a very exciting few Months and rather than complain about change we should be embracing it.
For me it will come down to cost. In 3 years my 2017 Stingray will hopefully be worth 30k, I can add 15k to that and then finance up to 25k. So if I can get the new C8 mid-engine for 70k after discounts that’s what I’ll be driving.
I love my Stingray however I know the C8 will be a better performer and hoping will have the exotic look as well.
Too early for me to decide on FE vs ME.
Even after the C8 comes out, there will still be lots of leftover or barely used C7s available, so I can wait until I see and drive a C8 for comparison.
Lots of people proclaimed they'd never buy the C6 with its fixed headlights, or the C7 with its overwrought styling and goofy rear end.
It took me several years before I could look at a C7 without wanting to upchuck, but in the end we bought one for what it does, not how it looks. After owning it for two years, now I'm ok wit the styling.
For the C8, I'm worried that GM will continue to make the same mistakes they made with the C7 (compared to the C6): longer, wider, and heavier. Poor visibility. Smaller cabin. Over-complicated electronics that are difficult to use. Etc. Better as a track car, but less useable as a daily driver/road tripper.
As others posted above, time will tell.
