Default Plant closing question

I searched the archives but came up short (wrong keywords???)

The question I am asking... Is there any official announcement/information about this year's summer plant closing? Will it take place while the C7's are still coming down the line, will GM wait until they're all on their way to the dealers and then close while the factory preps for the C8 conversion, etc...

Inquiring minds want to know.

The plant has been closed for over a year for tour with no date being set for reopening for tours

The plant is NOT closed. It is just not open for tours.

OP, no official word yet.

"The plant is NOT closed." Ah, so the new cars that have been showing up hither and yon weren't really the results of quantum fluctuations in the ether.

Thanks, and I appreciate you understanding my poorly worded question.

The reason for the question is that I just ordered a 19 Z06 Vert and am wondering how long it will take to reach my grubby hands.

Has your order gone to status 3000 yet. Or better yet, do you have a TPW (Target Production Week) yet? Once you have a TPW you can get close to figuring out when it will arrive at your dealer. Although delivery time can vary greatly depending on distance from Bowling Green. Under about 1000 miles and delivery is by truck. Over that and it is a combination of truck and train. The train portion significantly slows the delivery.

The plant is closed 6/24-7/7 so depending on where your car is I suppose that could delay it.

Thanks. That explains why mine is taking longer.

Yeah. I'm going through this a bit myself being told because of the shutdown my car will probably arrive at the dealer around beginning of August.

Need two weeks before Carlisle to get the ppf and clearplex installed.. fingers crossed. It is under 10000 miles so that's a plus..

Thanks for all the great info Zymurgy. Huge help.

The dealer said it should go 3000 today, with a TPW perhaps sometime in July, mid-July.

That information is the primary reason for the initial question. I had hoped that with the big change-over for the C8 coming late <???> this summer, the plant would keep running.

That's kinda the same boat I am in.

I just traded my 17 for a 19. Moreover, I signed up for the 2019 Caravan and we gather at Carlisle that Friday for the ride down to Bowling Green that Sunday. I need the 19 soon enough to put enough miles on it for its first oil change plus a 1000.

I'm guessing it might be a union negotiated break around the same time every year. If you delayed it into August a lot of peoples' kids are back in school and such which makes it harder to take family trips or things like that.

Could have always purchased one of the 9000 sitting on dealer lots and saved the wait.

Yeah but then you have to deal with the ********* at most dealers trying to yank you around and that whole song and dance.

Is that attendees, as in humans, or vehicles?
