Don’t mean to be a smartass here but a Toyota Prius is enough of a car if your going to follow all the rules of the road but obviously that’s not what I’m considering and I might go for a stingray as well that why I’m here getting opinions but for me I have been waiting long enough I’m thinking I’m going to get the one I really want and just save a little longer to get it
Well, nobody here is the Corvette Police to make you buy what we think you should buy, just a bunch of guys who will give you informed opinions based on their own experiences, and then you decide, of course.
BTW, I have driven several Priuses, and there is no danger of mistaking one for any Corvette.
I have a 19 GS 2LT with a bunch of optional equipment. My previous was a 16 Z51Coupe 2LT. I find myself using the HUD 99% of the time and rarely looking at the dash. Now with the GS, I only look at it occasionally to monitor tire pressure. HUD is one of those must have items if you have ever had it in the past.
I was was never interested in a package higher than 2LT because I didn’t see the value in the extras. 2LT mainly gets you HUD, cooled seats, front cameras, rears cargo shade and net, a year of free Sirius and a better sound system. All things which were important to me.
I upgraded to the GS because I love the wide body and Z06 goodies, but didn’t need the 650HP for street driving. 460HP is more than enough to control and get yourself in trouble with.
I have several classic cars which are quick as hell, but there is nothing more refined than a C7 for the money. And the GS gets you the low, wide look that screams performance and produces endless thumbs up!
Good insight I really do like the look of the GS/Z06 and if I decide I don’t need the extra power I’m almost in the price range of a new GS that is fairly well equipped which may be a good way to go as I don’t plan to put a ton of miles on it

I would never steer anyone away from a new 19' with the end of model discounts going on, specifically if you want a coupe and plan on ordering one so you can have it optioned exactly the way you want it. Less than a month from now and that's no longer possible any new C7 that is left will be whatever the dealer ordered. I have heard from at least one of the big national dealers that they have ordered every C7 they can get their hands on as the end of production push is on. The other thing they mentioned is that this will be a very different transition for Corvette vs all of the others. While there are a few on here that keep predicting the market is going to implode for C7 with the launch of the C8 there are many that are thinking there will still be very strong demand for the last of the FE Corvettes. Not everyone is suddenly going to be dumping their car for the new model when it is base only and will have first year, first model growing pains.
Whichever way you decide test drive, test drive, test drive. The only way you will know exactly what you want is if you drive the cars first. You mention that you will not be putting many miles on. If that's the case a low mileage like new used may be your best deal as they are discounted past the 20% mark and can deliver all the benefits of a new car and in most cases can even have an extended warranty placed on them for a very reasonable price if warranty is something that is important to you. Did I mention that you should test drive the cars before you choose the model you want? Good luck with your hunt. It can be part of the fun if you make it so.
