After 5 years and 8 months of trouble-free ownership my '14 has been sold. I'm scheduled for a quadruple bypass the week of July 8th and won't be able to drive for at least a month after that. Since I'll miss several car events anyway I might as well move it while the value is still not dropping big time like I assume it will following the C8 reveal. I plan to use part of the proceeds as a deposit on a C8. Although my C7 was one of the early ones (#307) it had 0 problems. The trip to Nashville before it was delivered to the dealer must have been the correct QC fix or whatever they did there as it was flawless! My only issue with the C7 was the interior room. This has been discussed since the early deliveries in '13 as many of us were disappointed with the tight quarters. My C6 and C5 were definitely better in this category. If the C8 is the same as the C7 or worse I will likely pass and buy a low mileage C6 Z06 as a replacement. The C8 will be a major change for Corvette and its' loyal owners. It may be the best thing to happen for the marque but could also be a disappointment. I guess the speculation will end soon and a year from now we'll see the verdict.
Thanks for all the interesting comments over the years-I'll be hanging out on the C8 forum now as well as the C4 as I still own my '84 I've had since new.
lol value/price is NOT going to drop because of the C8, i guarantee it. C6 prices did not go down when the C7 came out because they are both amazing and reliable cars. Heck they are still high. Maybe new C7's will go down a bit but def not used ones.
I'm with Steven Bell, good luck on the surgery, come out of it fine, and come back and tell us how you're doing. As to the C8, I'm also hoping for the best because for Corvette it is a really big move and a big bet on the model itself. When Zora first thought about it, the public probably wasn't ready. Now, they may be. Let's hope so. Again, take it easy and be well.
My C7 is my first ever Corvette. I have read many posts about how tight the C7 is and honestly I don’t feel that way. I’m 64 years old and while I’m not a big guy I’m not small either. Both my wife and I feel the C7 has plenty of room and is very comfy even for long trips.
I never owned any previous Corvettes so I can’t compare. I have a friend who had a C7 and got rid of it because he had a hard time getting in and out of it so my take is try it out before buying one and that goes for the upcoming C8 also.
As far as the bottom dropping out on C7 value I also don’t agree with that. They may actually increase in value when the C8 is released. There will be many factors involved on how appealing the early C8’s will be. Price, available options and I’m sure lack of incentives may steer many potential C8 buyers towards leftover C7’s.
