Default Convertible top UP

Does anyone have a fix to reprogram the FOB so that you can put the top UP on a C7?

Check out SmartTop from mods4cars. It adds this functionality and more. One of my favorite mods.

Do you have to use two FOBs or does the Smart Top FOB have all of the functions of the OEM FOB?

Smarttop is great, but too bad it does not raise the windows in the 18s or 19s after the top goes up.. Best mod ever for my 16, however.

I was in until on the Smart Top until I saw the price. Putting the top down with the FOB is an upgrade from my C6 Vert anyway so I'll just appreciate that for now.

For folks who have both the Range device and the smartTOP, what type of splitter do you use and how do you secure them so they are not just hanging?

A FOB doesn't program.

Samarttop has 2 modules that are installed on the car. One hooks up under the waterfall and the other unit plugs into the DTC.

Stock, you have to hold the top down button on the FOB during the entire top lowering process.
Stock, you cannot put the top up nor raise the windows with the FOB.
Stock, you have to depress and hold the dash button down during the entire down/up process.

Smarttop, you hold the unlock button for 3-4 seconds, the car beeps, you release the FOB button and the windows go down and the top goes down.
Smarttop, you press the lock button for 3-4 seconds, the car beeps, you release the FOB button and the top goes up and the windows go up.
Smarttop, you tap the bottom of the TOP button on the dash and the windows go down and the top goes down. You do NOT hold the button during the process.

There might be a time where you have the car parked with the top down and it starts to rain. I can put my top up from a very good distance without having to sprint to the car, get in and press and hold the top button to get the top up. Also, at 75 years of age, my "sprint" is not as sprinty as it used to be.

Smarttop also is a great way to save the FOB battery. Holding down the button to lower the top eats up the FOB battery.

Smarttop is a VERY good device to have on the convertible. Too bad GM didn't engineer this into the car as an optional setting.

I too have a RANGE and don't want to go without it. A splitter is one option but I'm worried it would get bulky down there. My understanding is that all the functionality of the SmartTop works without the OBDII plug EXCEPT rolling up the windows. Can someone confirm that? I might be willing to live without that.

Now...if they would just drop their price in half, the purchase decision would be a lot easier.

I tried a couple and went with this splitter (

). I wrapped up the excess with a Velcro strap and just stuffed the Range and the window module above the wiring bundle down by my left foot.

You are right. If you skip the OBDII module you lose just the window up function at the end. For me that's pretty annoying, but the window module (Window Valet) was not updated for 2018-2019 vettes. You still have a more consistent remote top-down function, and the interior switch becomes momentary contact instead of having to hold it down thru the full process.

Smart Top is the best birthday present I have ever received!

I've gotten a lot of Corvette related gifts over the years, and this one trumps even non Corvette gifts. Except hand made gifts from the kiddos.

Range AFM device stops the AT A8s from going into Eco V4 mode. Not applicable to the M7s.

I just ordered one of these for my 2014 C7 base.

I hope the latest firmware is already installed so I don't have to do a bunch of crap on my end.

This thing is pricey but the 5% code did work. m4cblog

That 5% code made the pain of $12 shipping on such a pricey item slightly more tolerable. I mean really?! Over $400 and you can't get free ship... ridiculous...

UPDATE on my order. I recieved my SmartTop.

Start-to Finish ... from opening the box to putting the tools away... believe it or not ... less that one hour.

Easy install and easy programming.

Works like champ. No issues. Wow... I'm amazed.
