Default Want to buy a Range device

I have less than 1000 miles on my 2019 grandsport. I went to purchase the range device on their website. I scroll down and find out they don’t ship to California. WTF! I want to purchase one but am leary of purchasing one through amazon or any other place other than the source. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Just confirm with them if they sell on amazon....some vendors do. If not, I wouldn’t buy it as there’s lots of fakes out there apparently. Got a friend in a different state that could buy it???

Don't know why anyone who can afford an approx $70k sportscar would risk buying a used Range device from someone they don't know just to save approx $35, as opposed to purchasing from the manufacturer and having their warranty and full support if by small chance they were to have an issue.

As mentioned avoid Amazon as you may not get technical support. Make sure you have at least software version 8.6.1 as some earlier versions draw more power when the car is off. It should have the sticker on the side with the software version.

Buy from the manufacture and have a friend in another state buy it for you. Range for me was great to deal with. I had one that failed which is rare and they sent me a new one.

I have bought 3 from the forum sale site and no issues. One for my car I had to send to range to get a free upgrade and other two for friends that had updated rev. I would suggest trolling for sale site and pick one up, they are posted pretty often. Range is very good to work with even if you didn't buy from them.

So you have to pay shipping to and from Range, your time and trouble dealing with getting update and how about if the used Range has an issue and Fs-up your C7's electrical system. To each their own, however makes no sense to me unless you are in a financial position where you have to watch every penny and if that's the case you probably shouldn't have a C7.

As others have said, just send to a friend or family outside of Ca, problem solved. If no friends or family outside Ca I'm sure there's many on this forum that would help you out. I mean that's one of the primary purposes of this forum is to share info and help one another.

I am 3 for 3 and how many have u heard of fing up elect. System. Not on a budget so $$ not an issue. Being thrifty is why i am not on a budget. I agree that forum guys are great and if they say their used range is good and have no need of it due to selling car i am ok with that. If u want to buy at full price from range knock yourself out but don't knock me for buying used.

Hay man, I've receive great pleasure and even profited from Corvettes and the community over the last more than 40 years so always try to do my best to help fellow enthusiasts when I can. As part of that, if I see what I believe to be bad advice communicated here I'm going to challenge it. It has nothing to do with you personally.

I am sure if someone had a range that "f" d up their electrical system we would have all heard about it just like when they had the battery drain issue ...

Real stretch here ...... all the buyer has to do is ask what firmware it is ....

I have one that I will be selling soon , works perfect , latest software and I to am a longstanding member here , so u think it's not safe to buy my range lol lol lol

Dave

So I should not sell my perfectly good Range version 8.6.R1 that worked flawlessly in my C7A8 on the CF forum and you would advise everyone not to buy it? I have an M7 now, so I don't need it anymore. Why not offer it for sale for someone who can use it, at a reduced price because I did use it in my car for a while?

If you have solid evidence that buying a used range is not advantageous then i would agree that i am putting bad advice and u would b correct in calling me out but i have never read one post that supports your opinion. 200 bucks verses 120-130 is pretty good savings. From other responses u may be on wrong side of this issue. I am done. Cheers and peace and happy 4th.

The fact you don't know why is not relevant or of help to anyone. May make you feel superior to those of us that do buy used but that is about it.
Your money, spend it as you see fit and the rest of us will do the same.

Where did I say anyone should not sell their Range devise? I said it made no sense to me to purchase a used Range over a new one from Range just to save a measly $35. However I can certainly understand why you guys selling your used Range devices are opposed to my recommendation not to purchased used.
By the way did you guys who are selling your used Range Devises purchase yours new or used?

I have purchased 2 of these, 1 from Summit Racing & 1 from Range themselves. Fortunately I live in a state where the EPA ***** haven’t gotten hold yet. However if I did, I wouldn’t be concerned about buying used from a CF member.
