Default Range device issue

Removed Range device.Drove 2 miles for Ma.Inspection.
I'm friendly with the Manager. He is what I thought busting my *****.I saw the big R..No that can't be mine..
Yup REJECTED...What!
No way..Yes way..
Thinking only drove 2 miles without the Range.Maybe not enough time for the computer to LEARN.
Gonna go back Monday after some miles and Hopefully Pass?
Had the Range in it last year.Yes I had to remove it before going to the station. No Issue before..
Just more BS Lately

He ask me if i cleared any codes. No I explained the Range was just unplugged.Last code clearing I believe when oil change was done.
Hopefully it's a non issue.Could be not the Range?
I will be in Manual Mode..

Once you remove the range unit I think you have to drive a certain amount of miles to reset the computer so it not affected by the range unit.

Dale#3;

I recall another follow Corvette Forum member from TX, earlier this year, His scenario very similar to yours.

Please do not be alarmed, just un-plug for a couple of weeks, in order for your CPU to re-calibrate? (Although, it may take several driving cycles to complete, be patient).

*Please note: I am not sure if it is prudent to discuss with MA.State Officials on how your are
undermined MA. State vehicle Emission with your Corvette?*

Many thanks,

Ray

The range will make you fail the test! Just remove the Range, drive around for a couple of weeks and then retake the test. Then you plug in the Range unit and go your merry way. Just remember next inspection to remove the range a couple of weeks before you go in for emissions!

Was your driving different this time after removal but before inspection, compared with last time? If not you might wish to consider other possibilities unless the inspection equipment has been updated, which may be another consideration.

And, I agree, being "friendly" with an inspection worker does NOT justify spilling your guts on how you typically play the system. All the best, in any event.

I believe you need to travel approx 200 miles to clear prior to an inspection or dealer visit.

I had the exact problem and failed twice. Like stated above, remove the Range and drive in manual for a few weeks then go back and you’ll pass.

Default Never an issue foe me

I live in MA and have a Range. For the last two years, I unplug the Range and drive 5 miles to the inspection. I have never had a problem. Granted, it's only twice but not an issue for me in my 2017 GS.

Does anyone worry about getting the shudder for the 2 weeks while the range is disconnected?

If worried about it just drive in manual mode. In addition, it doesn't necessarily have to take two weeks, just about 200 miles which can be accomplished in an afternoon.

I remove mine before leaving home and drive a couple miles to get it inspected. So far so good the past 2 years. Weird
