So I was going over a railroad track with a big hump. Slowed to a crawl, put into 1st gear. Because I was going very slow, when I went to put it into 2nd, the 1-4 shift thingy came on the screen. I just caught a glimpse of a “dismiss” near the 1-4 light.
So......... How do you dismiss the CAGS?
I may put in a CAGS override, but in the meantime, pushing a button may work when needed.
You were driving between 15 and 19 mph using light throttle when you attempted the shift. If you had moved the shifter when the speed was less than 15 mph it would have gone into 2nd. If you had waited to move the shifter until the speed increased above 19 mph it would have gone into 2nd. Of course you could have used slightly more throttle and moved the shifter to 2nd between 15 and 19 mph. Pretty simple to avoid and you can spend the $20 for more fuel. Really not worth the price to avoid when you can do so for free.
I got the CAGS eliminator for my C7 after it activated when I was driving up a hill. CAGS came on during the drive home after picking up my C7 but after driving it for awhile I found that it was natural to shift at higher rpms and I've had almost no CAGS issues in 2 1/2 years.
Given the low cost, if CAGS id affecting people the CAGS eliminator is a good solution.

^^^ interesting. After installing the CAGS I still occasionally get the message, but it does not make it skip.
By the way, I hate to admit this but the thing that took me the longest time was finding where to plug it in. All the install photos I found were closeups, so it took me a while!

Since you must not do your own oil changes, give the tech $10 and ask them to install!
Here is a pic of where it is on the left side of the trans. Don't confuse it, which is near the top with the temp sensor that is on the bottom. Connectors are different:
^^^ That would have helped . . . and I do my own oil changes. Actually, GM improved the thermal insulation on the wires, so I got under the car and it did not look quite right. But a different thread here on the forum showed me what to look for.
QuickJack is great, by the way!!
PS: On a related note, it's fun to be back in a manual!!
Any difference between these 2 models? One appears to have only one plug.
I thought it goes inline with factory harness, no? Unplug harness from trans, plug one end into that factory end, plug other end of resistor into trans.
^^^
The one I bought has two connected plugs BUT that is just for installation purposes.
The connector that goes into the Blocking Solenoid is there to only keep out dirt! The plug that connects to the wires that go to the car is the one that has the proper value resistor to "fool" the computer thinking the solenoid was activate. Some have two separate plugs, which work the same! The wires that tie the two together are NOT electrically attached to the plugs!
Note, I made insulation to cover mine just because it is close to the exhaust pipe. Really not needed if you use a couple of plastic ties to keep it from hitting,

Yup, just like all the OTHER "Dismiss" indications on the DIC.
