Hey,

With the C8 only offered with a automatic, do you think we'll see an uptick in C7 manuals? The remaining 2019s is it.

I know I'm tempted to opt for a C7 with a manual instead of the C8.

Thx

Here's how it's going to work in the future for the C7.
When you're trading it in, it's worth less than the auto tranny. The dealer will tell you younger buyers don't want a manual.
If you're buying a C7, it's worth more. The dealer will tell you they're harder to find.
Guaranteed that's what will happen.

Ha, good luck finding one 3 months ago, especially with desirable options or a convertible. Most people wanting a M7 had to order like myself. They gone......

8 FS right now just on the 1st page in the classified section. Doesn’t like they’re being “snapped” up too quickly. Get em while their hot.

The manuals always go before the autos. Even the base models.

From a purist point of view, an automatic Corvette is like banging with a condom. Your almost there, but not quite.

Default My "prediction"

I see more people (those who have the space and finances) keeping a C7 manual AND a C8. Rarely if ever has a model change (C7 - 8) been so dramatic so having a 2019 next to a 2020 in your garage checks all
the boxes. Look at older Ferraris (360's) and Gallardos (with manuals) enjoying kind of a sales revival.

I will have to "suffer" with my '14 torch red Conv. Z51 1LT 7MT, retired school teacher with commensurate finances and I feel truly blessed to be in these circumstances. But that won't stop me from licking the dealership's windows when the first C8's show in 2020.

First of all, it's not an automatic. It's a computer controlled manual.

Second, keep dreaming that your one of thousands M7 is going to be worth something extra going forward.

Some people are so damn insecure.

does anyone really think chevy is just NEVER AGAIN gonna put a manual in the vette? come on. its not available YET but a stickshift in the c8 is coming. probly 2021 model year or whatever, who knows.

there was mention of them filing a patent for a new clutch master cylinder. wow, mystery.

in the meantime, if someone just HAS to have a manual, happy to sell mine with 6800 miles for 55k =D

I was going to say the same. Clutch by wire will likely hit at some point with them filing for it. I'm holding out for now.

I also want to see just how crazy it will be to do the usual modifications (exhaust, intake, TB, headers, etc...). I'm thinking they will be harder, but not impossible for the garage types (like I pretend to be).

Major redesign of the cab is one issue. Major redesign of several other issues would be in play too, such as how to get linkage from a shifter to gearbox? No to mention the relatively low numbers of manual trannies sold over the past years

I seriously doubt there will be a manual C8.....

I'm hoping for a clutch, shift by wire manual. It may happen or it may not. I will by a C8 at some point, but I wouldn't buy one the first model years anyway. They will need time to get the bugs worked out which will appear without a doubt. 2021 for me at the earliest. All the testing will still not duplicate thousands of cars on the road once they are mass produced.

Reluctantly, I have to agree. There are so many "ifs" but if the DCT is as good as claimed, and it's had 30 years to get it right in other cars from cheap to supercars, the manual may be gone forever. Then, the problems mentioned above which translate to cost. Plus, it's not 50% of the Corvette buyers; it's 23% or so, and sinking.

And that's the issue for End of Year sales, too. I'd bet few dealers ordered more than usual MTs expecting people to "snap them up." If Corv. buyers haven't snapped them up before in record numbers exceeding 23%, why should a dealer stock up in anticipation of a flood of buyers?

Ans. It's not logical for them to do so. And they're in biz to make money not have a 77% chance that no one wants the last two Corv. with MTs sitting on their lot.

If you can find a car with MT, and you think it's worth the price, buy it. Will it appreciate way beyond an A8? Hang onto it and find out, but my guess is it will take time, lotsa time, if ever.

Lol, so a paddle shift auto......likewise a computer controlled paddle shift is not a manual.

I ordered a 2019 M7 Z06 in February all because of what was coming in 2020. I know most Corvette buys opt for automatics but I’m not one. I wanted to get one while I still could. Funny thing too, had I ordered my same car with Auto Trans it would have added over $3000 to the MSRP.

It has clutch plates and helical, synchronized gears rather than a torque converter, planetary gears and a hydraulic valve body. It's a computer controlled manual.

The computer controlled manual automatically shifts for you unless you want to push a lever with the tip of your finger to get to the NEXT gear.

A manual trans requires you to disengage a clutch with your foot while properly giving it gas with your other foot as you mover the shifter with your hand to the gear you want.

It it is an art that some people really enjoy doing, and the fact that it is not available in the C8 will make Corvette fans who love to shift go to the C7 used car market. Apply basic economics to get the result.
