I think the C7 will hold up better against the C8 than the C6 did vs C7 and versions?
I've owned Corvettes since the C4. Each time a new version came out, I had to have it because my prior version then felt dated. Typically I always bough the first production year to get the most out of my car feeling "current". Was disappointed when I heard that the C7 would have the shortest production run of any Corvette.
After seeing the C8 however, I'm beginning to think the C7 will hold up better than any of the prior versions simply because the C8 is SO DIFFERENT. The closest comparison might be C3 to C4. Even C1 to C2 and C2 to C3 were all BIG changes. C4 through C7, never felt as big of a change from one to the next, until the C8 Being that C1's, C2's and C3's are all collectors now, I think the C7 will fall into the historical category of those cars as the last front engine, long hood Corvette that it has been famous for since the C3 was introduced 50 years ago.
Maybe just wishful thinking on my part? Anyone feel the same?
I think I like the C8, will have to see it in person to determine for sure. Certainly not in love with the back end. From the side, it looks like a "super car" and doesn't remind me of a Corvette at all. Which is what makes me feel better about keeping the C7. Not to say I won't get a C8, but in this case, as in the past, it may not "replace" the prior version.
The nose is very Corvette-esque, but to me is the only part of the car that reminds us that the C8 is still a Corvette. The back end screams Camaro to me. I wasn't in love with the C7 rear either and while I've gotten used to it, still can't say that I love it. Fortunately I absolutely love the C7 from every other angle. The C8 rear end is even more drastic. Not sure I could ever get used to it, let alone love it? Even with the C7, always felt like they had someone different design the rear end than did the rest of the car. Such a different design language. The C8 certainly retains that consistency.

Im an owner of a c6 z51 manual and i believe the c7 corvette z51, grand sport and z06 manuals will be sought out quite strongly.
the c7 was a short run....so its not old news like the much longer run c6...
having driven into manhattan friday night down the palasades i ran across a c7 convertible.
what a beautiful and contemporary design.
i believe it will hold up quite well.
i admire the c7 design although im skipping that generation so my opinion is not quite biased.
just my opinion.
