Default HUD alignment

From time to time my HUD moves and I need to use the switch to re-align back to where I like it. I'm not inadvertently hitting the switch with my knee or anything. I still have a full range of movement so I don't think anything is loose.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not too concerned... just curious.

I think mine moved to the right. Could be my imagination. It seems to stay in the same vertical position.

Mine seems to be tilted a little bit, is that not normal?
The left side is a little higher than the right side.

If you mean up and down, I agree. Once every couple months it seems I have to move it a bit up and then a few months later down.

What year is your car? The later models have an adjustable HUD. Earlier models do not. It's the windshield that causes the offset. You can tell this by moving your head down. As you get lower the HUD alignment straightens right out. The curve in the windshield glass causes the distortion. The switch was added to allow drivers to compensate for this distortion.

Mine will do that once in a while, too. Not often, maybe three or four times in the five years I've owned the car. It is a 2014 so it only has the vertical adjustment.

What really got me was the first time all the windows and the sun aligned perfectly and I could see the below-dash workings of the HUD unit reflected in the windshield. I thought something was really haywire until I finally came to a curve on a long desert highway.

Nathan, the switches for the HUD are on the lower part of the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. To the right of the trunk release button.

EDIT-Congrats on the new 2019 GS -end of edit

2019 user manual here... I think the 2018's also have the rotation functions in the DIC. No control to move the HUD display right or left unfortunately.

I swear mine rotated a bit. Easy enough to fix in the options accessed from the steering wheel.

There's an old saying which goes- "Anything that can be adjusted, can get out of adjustment."
