Default Engine lettering paint

I spent $100 to have my C7 detailed and in the process they washed the “red” that says Corvette off (mostly) off the engine. I’m wondering if there’s an automotive paint pen that would work to restore. If I have to replace these covers, what are they called exactly? Hard to replace? Thanks!

I removed the red and applied decals. I don't think it will look good if you try to paint it by hand no matter how much masking tape you use....

A lot of owners have seen that paint come off eventually. It will be covered by warranty but it will eventually come off again. Even if you replace the entire cover, there is a good chance the paint on those will come off as well.

My paint was coming off too. I used acetone took the rest of the paint and replaced with Chrome letters, also comes in brushed finish, from Zips Corvettes. They were $51 if I remember correctly and looks nice

I used an eraser wheel to remove the paint. Worked great and very fast.

Thanks very much. Are your letters inset or raised on those covers?

If/when mine starts coming off, I'll remove it all and leave it.

Maybe a quality paint pen from your local Hobby Lobby/Michael's, etc. would work.

I used a paint pen. Because the letters are raised its pretty easy. You can sort of see the pen in the upper left. Get a wide chisel tip and do multiple light coats, then top with a clear for protection. Kind of a fun DIY craft project.

They are raised on the cover. Just remove the cover and take your time installing and they will look perfect.

I removed all the plastics and insulation from the engine. Aesthetics of LS/LT engines is terrible anyway, the true beauty in these engines is how they perform. Will replace plastic covers just before car is listed for sale.
