Default 3LT dash

What are the areas that are a problem with the leather of the 3lt dash delaminatuon, is it the middle or edges, or can someone provide a picture
I was looking a 14 stingray 3lt and wanted to check the dash for signs of this.

thanks

Mine started to pull up around the defrost vents first. I think this is the most common problem. The edges around the HUD can also be a problem. The whole top of the dash from the HUD opening towards the wheel started to bubble up on mine before I had it replaced.

Mine had sat on a dealer lot in TX for over a year before I bought it. I think prolonged exposure to sun/heat really is the driving factor here, so the cars location/use history should tell you how much you need to be worried about this issue.

Mine is bubbling in the area just behind the HUD, and in the upper dash panel. The upper dash panel is easily replaced.
The area behind the HUD is a part of the entire dash and much more difficult.

It has never sat in the sun for any extended period.

It's interesting that some of these failures have been reported for C7s that have not been subject to substantial heat/sun. There's literally dozens of threads/photos on these failed dashes.

sorry if you haven't seen this before but when i ordered my 19 Z06 3LZ, i wanted confirmation this would not be a possibility (mind you i have owned my 16 3LZ from new and have zero issues with the dash leather which is blue but my buddy with the SAME car and only half the miles had his delaminate.. but his was not kept indoors nor in a climate controlled garage like mine. plus i crack my windows - i take the necessary care not to overheat inside is my point unlike he did).

i received the confirmation i was looking for (and others like the A8 shudder issue etc. )

hope this helps anyone thinking of the higher end leather which is so nice and feels so natural vs the molded grain scraps glued together in the Mulan offerings.. if you have a chance to see the GM tour display with the seats grab both bottom cushions and squeeze the covers. I did.. the Mulan feels like old granny skin and the Nappa is soft and supple.. the difference is undeniable.

in other words.. if your dash hasn't been replaced or the car was built before mI'd 2018 build cycle? You have a good chance at issues unless extreme care is given.

Just received a goodwill offer from gm for the dash bubbling. Gm will pay half to replace the dash. My part would be 1700.00
Going to have to think on that.

So a $3400 repair per Gm, it would be interesting to see the breakdown, labor hours etc.....

I truly hope GM has resolved the 3LT leather dash cracking issue, however they also said the new paint shop was going resolve the the body panel seam paint popping/cracking issue yet it's now worst than it was in C7s coming out of the old shop.
