Default Windshield shade

I have a 'shade' but it won't stay to the glass/window. Not enough 'static cling' I guess. How do y'all get your shade to stay. The visor's are useless; they don't even come close to the window. I have the supposed custom fit one (got it from Costco). It's the same as the 'name' brand (which it is) but just has CORVETTE written on it. It's also the 'roll up' type which I imagine might be part of the problem it making it 'lay flat'?

2015 LT3 Z51

thanks

I had the same problem with my Auto Heat Shield roll up sun shade. I put velcro strips on the "tabs" that the sun visors are designed to hold, but as you found out are way too small for the task. The other side of the velcro is on the headliner near where it meets the windshield. Its not perfect but does the job.

If interested I'll grab a picture of my handy work

I've got a fitted accordion style one and it stays up pretty well. The sun visors are enough to keep it in place, even though it sags a little in the middle. I think it was just some off-brand one from Amazon. My wife got it for me as a gift.

I had the same issue and in fact, I spent almost an hour on the phone with several reps from Autoanything trying to figure out what was the best match for a 2019 GS Corvette considering the one I purchase said it was the right match, in reality, wasn't. To say the least I was very impressed with the customer service as they really tried to find a solution and in the end, Coverking who is the mfg actually did. Autoanything ended up refunding my money and told me to just keep it. Coverking support

shipped me out these thin plastic tabs to use to hold it in place and so far it works pretty good and I do not feel it is compromising the hood liner.

Thanks for the info and for the pictures. That's the exact same 'shield' I have have!!! Since I got mine at Costco I don't think I can get the same assistance you got from CoverKing?? But with your pictures I may be able to come up with something on my own to simulate what you have/done.

thanks again.

The "rough" side of the velcro is attached to the very front of the head liner, just about where it turns up to meet the windshield. If anything it could be moved up even further to almost be against the glass to make things fit tighter and make it invisible from inside the car. The "soft" side of the velcro is attached to the sun shield in two strips so even if you miss align it enough material will grab on.

I used some really strong velcro strips I got at Lowes like
THIS THIS
. The glue is very sticky. The heat does cause it to peel up sightly over time, but it will stick right back down again if you press it back in place with some rubbing.

This is what it looks like in place. It sags but I think that is nature of all the roll up sun shades. I tried the stiffer folding style shields but found it was difficult to deploy in the tight confides of the C7's interior. And folding it back up was frustrating... just like dealing with an old school paper map. Once folded up it was thick and not easy to stow behind the seat. Where as this roll up shade can made into a tight tube that just squishes into wherever you jam it.

I might look into a Weather Tech shield to see if it fits better.

Got one of the thicker accordion style folding ones and love it. Fits well, doesn't sag, has felt on back so it doesn't scratch the dash. A little pricey, but well made. Only problem is having to store it in the trunk of the vert. Here's a link:

Thanks all for the info. I guess part of my problem is/was I'm kinda a cheapy. Costco has the CoverKing products and they sell them at a reduced price. The 'shade' is exactly the SAME as the 'name' brand but almost 1/2 the price. Just DOES NOT have the CORVETTE logo on the shade. I think it would do the job because it does seem to be insulated and the reflective quality seems to be good too. Just needs to stay near the glass.

I've come up with a temporary fix that utilizes using a 'skinny' dowel rod that can straddle the shade utilizing a 'slot' that I place a 'piece' that presses the rod onto the shade. Not a good description but best I can explain.

I am going to investigate the 'velcro' ideas a bit more and see what I can figure. Didn't have this dilemma in my previous Vettes but the window on this 2015 is much deeper/recessed than the others and the visors are of NO VALUE as they were in the older vettes.

This is the root of the problem - the visors are tiny, making them worthless for holding up anything.

Soooooooooo ?????? Where actually do you use the plastic tabs? How do they 'snug' up the shade to the glass?

thanks

Re-asking about this. I have been in conversation with Coverking about this and have had no resolution. They even sent me a new shade but what good is that when it too just sags down???

I would like to know where the 'tabs' are used to hold the shade in place? How long are the 'tabs'...so I can maybe make something similar myself. This shade experience has proved quite frustrating.

The West Coast Shade several folks have recommended is no longer available??? I've used the link sent and the item is showing "No Longer Available".

I also have this one and am very happy with it. I don’t find it to be a problem storing it in the trunk of the convertible. I personally do not find it an inconvenience to retrieve or store in the trunk.

I have the accordion style(CoverCraft UVS100). I bought it used from a forum member. Works great. Folds up and stores neatly in the trunk of my Z vert. The cover in conjunction with tinted windows on my car keeps the interior much cooler. Alot less worries on my leather dash shrinking.
