So, I’m in a small caravan, (I was the only Corvette), traveling along Route 66 just east of Albuquerque heading west. The traffic was moderate to heavy. I noticed in my rear view mirror a Cadillac closing fast and weaving through traffic cutting others off. He pulls up parallel to me in the passing lane and clearly wants to prove his stones are larger than anyone on the road. It was one of those Caddies with a LT1 or something. I just continued following my caravan at about 5 over the speed limit. Anyway, the entire time his exhaust was popping and crackling in a very strange way. He finally got tired of me not playing his game and floored it. While he was accelerating the exhaust continued to pop and make strange sounds. What was up with those sounds? Were they normal for that car?
2016 and up if it was a CTS-V was the LT-4 ... very potent and capable car...unfortunately driven by an idiot. If it was a smaller Caddie it had the LF4 V6 TT 464 HP, still pretty potent at 0-60 in 3.7. In 2016 they put it up against a BMW M3 and Merc. C63-s and it was quicker. So neither cars are a slouch ...
I had something *very* similar happen to me here in Hot Springs! A white CTS coupe came roaring up behind me, pulling up beside me in the passing lane. Surging forward, dropping back, again and again. Finally he got tired of me not taking his bait, and he floored it and buzzed off. On the back of the CTS was the emblem "3.6".
An SUV chased me down the twisties on I15 between Utah and Las Vegas... He'd move up behind me and I'd lose him like a bad habit, repeated three or four times. As we got to the flatlands he was about a half mile behind, and really stood on it to zoom past me, saluting me with a single finger, likely doing over 100 mph... Guess he didn't see the black SUV parked in the median between the north and southbound lanes... A couple of miles down the road I honked the horn a couple of times as the Highway Patrolman was walking to his car...
