Default Need some help / advice

I just purchased a '16 C7 coupe, 9K miles. When the mode switch is in Touring the car rides great. However, when I put it in Sport Mode, I feel , for lack of a better description, an oscillating type of vibration in the steering wheel. Not terribly bad, but enough to let you know its there. Car was not hit, I inspected this vehicle inside out and underneath. Is this normal?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Paul

Congrats on the new ride.

Could be a bent / cracked wheel (very common on our cars) and the stiffer suspension is compounding the vibration.

Paulie, does your car have the mag ride option? If so, there was an update to the system offered by GM for some earlier C7 models. I don't know if yours would be one of those, but your local GM dealer could check. If it doesn't have mag ride I have no idea what the problem could be. Maybe check your front tires for uneven wear. That may/could cause that feeling with the steering tightened. But, that just a SWAG. Good luck

BTW, the bent.cracked wheels were more prevalent with the Grand Sport, and Z06 wheels.

The car does have the mag ride option. as far as wheels are concerned I had all wheels removed and road force balanced. All wheels are good.
BTW they're the chrome wheels if that makes a difference. The tires are wearing normally. Maintenance records indicate this car was well cared for.

Thanks for the input !

Putting the car in Sport Mode will stiffen the steering, an oscillating movement of the steering could be caused by an alignment issue. The more direct response of the steering in Sport mode may make it more noticeable. What happens when you put the car into Track Mode and choose one of the sub options like Sport 1 or Sport 2?

I haven't heard of anyone having troubles with the chrome Z51 wheels. As Bill said, maybe check your alignment. I don't think you have anything seriously wrong with the car. If you did it would show up in tour mode also. It's gonna be one of those "check off" list, but you'll get it right. Enjoy that beauty.

You may also want to leave the mode in sport while changing steering mode between tour, sport, and track.

I would say no, if it does it in a stiffer mode.. that is just highlighting the problem.. definitely should be no oscillation as you described.. something is a miss. The update would most likely do nothing to resolve any underlying problems.
