YIKES! Simply compare with your other door and it's obvious that something has come loose or is broken. That mechanism is NOT suppose to be moving about. All the lube in the world won't fix it. I hate to say it, but it looks like it's time to visit the dealer before it gets worse. Sorry about that and all the best!
Thanks for the sorrow. Yes, this is not normal and only has occurred in the last few days. I was hoping someone had prior experience, but I have an appointment with the dealer to inspect it this Thursday. I have to wait for a loaner to come available after that, but I'l let you know what happens.
Following up on this. There is a bolt underneath the rubber covering that needed to be tightened. I wouldn't normally expect the bolt to come loose, but my door was removed for an unrelated reason, and the mechanic didn't torque as much as he should've when he put it back. All good now.
