Mine goes in horizontally, but it's a 2017 GS so sounds like they changed it along the way. So if your slot is vertical, then it would seem that you have to slide it in vertically. You can't put it in incorrectly. The card is configured so that it won't slid in wrong, just like in a computer.

I'll have to grab one of my 32gb cards and see what happens. Perfect excuse to take it out for a two hour excursion. Thanks for the reply.
