Yep.. A8 is a proven bullet proof commodity in the 8s bone stock and on stock tune on some cases... amazing..

The DCT is a "?" And until it has a solid year and a good 10k or so miles in customer's hands? It will remain that way.. imo.. that trans will make or break the C8 more so the programming... if it's right? Great ownership experience. If it's wrong? Go help them.. and anyone waiting to buy one.. they will **** production down and whi knows what next.. nobody has pulled off without major hiccups and not on this 40k unit scale. I wish them luck as I want Corvette to succeed. Eventually I'll end up in some form of Corvette ME years from now. If there still is one.

Go for the newer Vette, the C8. You would only miss the manual transmission.

IMO, mid-engine is the only way forward for the Corvette. It's been too long coming. That said, being an old guy who likes shifting for myself, and am still capable of doing it, I ordered a 2019 Z51 M7 to get me by until I have to go to an automatic (or pseudo-manual or whatever). In your case, get whatever you and your wife agree on. That's what we did.

I have 2019 Z06 M7 Ragtop and have no regrets. Having said that the 2020 looks like amazing and will certainly have superior handling. For me no manual means C7 but it is all personal preference. I agree w Kevin on waiting at least a year for the C8 if you are considering

Personally I was thinking 2-3 years.

Awesome reason. If you can't afford more than 1 GB of data you sure can't afford a C7 or C8. Enjoy your C6 GS, it's a great car

The only reason to get a C7 at this point is if you want a manual transmission.

Not the only reason. I am not yet convinced on the look of the c8. In some pictures it looks good in some it looks not as good. I liked the c7 from day 1. Another reason is you can actually get a c7. You will be waiting at least 6 months for a c8, and if you are not on the list already probably longer. The c7 can be had for a hefty discount if you are budget conscience.

Not to mention the new frame, new motor, new transmission, and especially the new electronics systems. I feel it's going to be 2-3 years before I trust the platform. At my age, that may be to long.

I love how folks who don't know my monetary situation feel free to interject their uninformed opinions into a discussion. My money, my decision as to where to spend it. Trust me, I can afford a new C7 OR a C8.

Soory, just thought the 1 Gig of data is funny. Tons of cheap phone plans out there.
If you don’t want a manual, get a C8. The 3LT two tone interiors look awesome.

Accepted. Just to note, while I have an iPhone, I don't use it like most others seem to. Over the years I have been perfectly content with my "small plan", to use Verizons words and have never used more than 50% of that. It's just not me. I use my cars GPS when I need to or a Garmin in the 2012 GS when I use that car. Don't FB, tweet, instagram or any of the other data using apps. About the only thing I do with it is get email if I am away from wifi and waiting for an important email and that is VERY infrequent.
I guess I'm saying, I didn't get to retirement by spending my money when it wasn't required.

C7 although I like the looks of the C8 so far but no one has even driven one and they are ordering them. Whaaat! All these years perfecting front engine vette and now people think this c8 is going to be better when changing to m.e. things dont evolve that fast. History!

Also have a C6 GS . . .6 speed manual coupe which continues to be a fun, reliable and practical sports car.
I did pass completely on the C7 . . . I know its a more refined and upgraded vehicle, but I never warmed up to exterior appearance ( although I do like the interior ).
So I just went to Corvettes at Carlisle to check out the C8s.

Its a fine looking car and immediately I do like it better than the C7 . . . of course this all subjective and personal.
But what is not subjective is the apparent serious loss of storage / luggage space compared to the C6 hatchback.

I know this is a function of the midengine design. But it seems pretty dramatic.

GM is claiming 2 sets of golf clubs can fit, but that ain't enough for us. My wife and I routinely put 2 or 3 suitcases, a couple of beach chairs, our laptops and briefcases, a cooler and some groceries in the back of the C6 with room to spare. And if we want to rest the targa top on top of all of that it's still no problem. That is just never happening with the C8.

I like the C8. Its a great achievement and they will sell a lot. But GM has taken the Corvette from a sports car ( C6 or C7 ) that could still double as a daily driver or practical but fun ride for a road trip to more of a high performance toy, like an Italian exotic. Not as practical anymore . . . which was also one of the Corvette trademarks over a 911.

In the end, that is what may keep me in my C6 GS for a long time. Good luck to you.

Might as well hang on to your C6 for another year and see what issues if any the C8 presents.

100% ! I started a thread in the C8 section asking if anyone who that has ordered one is nervous about buying a car without seeing or driven one first.

It got ALOT of hate! most if not all of these early buyers will be back here complaining about something or feature they didn't consider when ordering. People are just WAY to excited over the C8 I just think its crazy but hey! ...who cares what i think Iam just another jerk on the internet.

No sh^t you got allot of hate. Lol

You went in to **** on something many waited 50-60 years for on a hypothetical issue. Many would say the first years of the c7 were the ones with the least issues. The c8 is the next link and probably have had more research and engineering then any other Vett. Now if you guys want to talk yourself into I'm saving money camp or I'm still waiting for round tail lights thats ok. Make whatever excuse you guys want but dont bash the c8 ........until I get it... then let me bash it.
