Default Custom dive planes

I know these are not for everyone, but wanted to share for those that might be like minded.

After installing the Big **** (Weapon-X ZTXL wing), I always felt the front end needed something to visually balance the car a bit. I thought dive planes would be the answer so I started searching for aftermarket dive planes. Found a few, but none of them “checked all the boxes” for me, so to speak.

I finally decided I would tackle designing and making my own, and after several iterations, this is what I ended up with.

Dive planes are are cut from 3mm thick carbon fiber plate. After cutting, I clear coated them with a 2 part automotive clear coat for durability and chemical resistance. Brackets I 3D printed in PETG. Bracket is held on with 3M body tape, so if I ever decide I decide to remove them (or need to), they can be easily removed and car will be “stock”, i.e. - no mounting holes left in the front bumper. Dive planes are held to bracket with 3mm button head screws and locknuts that are captured in the bracket. Black anodized finish washers are used to “pretty it up” a bit. I can have different sized and or different shaped dive planes cut if I ever wanted to “change the look” quite easily by just unscrewing the three mounting screws and changing out the dive plane.

I am open to suggestions and welcome your opinions.

Will get better pics of the mounting bracket uploaded later this evening.
Carbon Flash would be no problem. Dive planes could be cut out of G10 fiberglass instead of carbon fiber and then painted carbon flash.

As requested, here are some pics of the mounting bracket that is attached to the front bumper cover via double sided 3M molding tape.....

Here is a shot from the underside of the bracket showing one of the captured locknuts....

And a couple of closeup shots showing the cap head screw and finish washer that holds the carbon fiber dive plane to the mounting bracket (3ea per dive plane)...

I have the DXF file for the dive plane and STL file for the mounting brackets if anyone is interested. I can print the mounting brackets for anyone if you dont have access to a 3D printer.

Interesting and well-done. But, if it were me going to all that trouble, I'd have made them bigger. Perhaps, not Viper ACR size but more along those lines. Good job!

You mean more like this.........

I was not happy with the rigidity of the larger dive planes. They would require, IMO, the bracket be mechanically fastened to the front bumper cover. That means drilling holes and using screws to attach the bracket. The 3M tape coupled with my bracket design just wasnt rigid enough and the larger dive planes flopped around too much for my liking and I just wasnt ready to commit to drilling holes in the front bumper at this time.
