I picked up my new 2019 Grand Sport on Friday from William Macintyre Chevrolet on Friday. I met Bill at the Corvettes at Carlisle show and we agreed on a trade of my 2013 C6 base coupe on a new 2019 Grand Sport.
Bill personally spent plenty of time to go over the multitude of features on these C7s. In the glovebox, under the owners manual, we found this:
Now, how do I find out if this is correct? Obviously the very last 2019 is worth a bunch more than the first 2019, but it would make for an interesting history to the car.
Didn't realize GM VINS were sequential, starting with 1.
Cool, that makes it easy!
( of course, is the first one on the production line actually sold?)
I would imagine it would be. If your car is a very early one there will of course be at least 3 zero’s in the VIN. 000xx
Maybe it was that dealers first 2019.
What are the last 5 digits of your VIN?
if they are 00001 it is the first 2019.
Not necessarily. The first 2019 Grand Sport could be 500001, but the first Stingray could have been 100001. Or the first Z06 at 600001. You'd need to look at build dates to know which of those three 'first' cars actually came down the line first.
Having the first 2019 Grand Sport would still be pretty fun.

I would guess that the paper means it was the first 2019 the dealer received. Could be wrong, but that would be confirmed by the VIN shown on the car as mentioned above.
I think they were putting those same signs in all the first 19s for some period of time after the changeover. The last 18 was finished on Friday, January 26, 2018, and the first 2019 was scheduled to be finished on Monday, January 29, 2018. Because the dividing line was just the normal weekend plant closure, they did that to avoid confusion.
I know this because I ordered a 2018 built the very last week (Jan 24), and it came in on a truck with 2019s. The 19s all had that same sign on the dash.
18s and 19s built since the new plant opened in November 2017 are identical. The only reason for the sign was to make sure the correct oil was put in them. 2019s were the first to get the new 0W-40 oil. 18s had the same 5W-30 they'd been using since 2014. I think after several days, they didn't need the sign anymore.
It's definitely an early 2019 probably built the first week, but it's not likely the very first. Your VIN will tell.
Not necessarily. The first 2019 Grand Sport could be 500001, but the first Stingray could have been 100001. Or the first Z06 at 600001. You'd need to look at build dates to know which of those three 'first' cars actually came down the line first.

My real point was to check the VIN. When he finds anything other than 00001 then he can stop wondering. Should he in fact find a 00001!then he can go a step further and find out more. In August or September of 2019 I’m seriously doubting he found the first 2019 built on a dealers lot.
