Default OnStar, Navigation and Wireless network

Am looking to replace the IO5 HMI with an IO6 unit to add nav in my '19 C7. (Rest assured I am very familiar with GM's Nancy the Navigation Nazzi, and that I am also conversant in and use Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze so there is no need to comment about the efficacy of adding GM navigation.)

Digital Dash Solutions advises that with the IO6 upgrade, some owners experience loss of the OnStar application on the Infotainment display. I have never used OnStar and could care less about the OnStar app, but am wondering if the app disappearing will affect any non-OnStar features such as the car's wireless?
TIA!
Jim

Jim,

I have a 19 as well and just did the install. Everything works as if it came from the factory including traffic flow which is one of the big things I wanted. Now have to pay a fee to xm for it but worth it to me. I even still have the the rear grid lines when backing up. Some people complained of loosing that feature and other bugs. The only thing I do not have is the posted speed limit in the dic. I don’t know why but it will not show up. I am wondering if they stopped programming it in the newer nav software? Anyways I can confirm OnStar is still there and works as well as WiFi etc. I even sent a address to car through the app and it started OnStar directions for testing so everything works. I bought mine through infotainment and am very pleased.

Thanks! Is your original RPO code IO5? Digital Dash advised that there were different RPOs for non nav C7s, which was a surprise to me, but may not apply to the '19 model year.
FWIW, when I did the IO5-IO6 upgrade in my '17 I also never had the speed limit on the infotainment display, nor the menu choice to display or not.
From discussions with DD and researching CF, it appears that each HMI has its own rules about talking to the C7...

Thanks for explaining the speed limit signs. That explains it. Was driving myself mad trying to figure out why it was not displaying. How can I tell if I had io5? My module I pulled says NG 2.5 HMI model number on it if that tells you anything?

The RPO codes for the car as built are on a label under the cargo compartment carpet to the left of the battery.
The carpet is difficult to lift for access and some owners suggest partially removing the lower side of the RH trim piece, but I was successful being careful and taking my time...
