I've been eliminating some of the Apps that I don't use on successive pages of the home screen, such as the New York Times, and rearranging them on the screen. But I'm having difficulty moving Apps that are up against the left border of the screen, to another screen to the left. Any advice? I've read the manual and it is not helpful in that situation.
It's very difficult to do. Try sliding it to the edge then jiggling it against the edge a few times. That's how I got it to work.
However, I don't have any New York Times in my car. Might be easier to remove the app. Not sure how you do that - I've never installed any apps into the car but surely there's some way to remove it (considering you said you don't use them anyway).
If you press on the app for a few seconds, the deletion icon comes on. Yeah, all those other apps come through the remote software update function without your permission.
Remote software update function? What is that? Again, I have no New York TImes app on my car. Maybe it's because I don't pay the New York Times for information about news that it pretty much freely available all over the net...
I doubt it. As I have seen NYTimes on the net they implement a paywall - they let you see a few articles a month then you must pay or wait for the next month I guess. IOW they want to be paid and most likely by subscription to provide you any service. I refuse to pay them (again, because their "product" is freely available elsewhere).
I suspect you probably have an active subscription for NYTimes whereas I don't. I must admit I don't have a WiFi hotspot set up. I don't see the use in it. It can't do any better than a cell phone and I don't want yet another cell phone bill to pay for. In any event, if an app automatically downloaded without my consent I would promptly remove it and block that **** from ever happening again.
