Three weeks ago I sold to them my manual '10 Grand Sport w/ 63K. They gave me $26,222. I didn't want to deal with the tire kickers, BS stories, etc. I needed to make room for my '19 Z51. The whole transaction took about five days. They came to pick it up. And, the check didn't bounce. Plus I got a $1,100 refund from cancelling my extended warranty.
PS- I would never buy a Vette from them. They are way too high.
We bought this 2015 DSOM Z51 7 speed car for the wife and it was a great experience, good Carfax and matched the GM VIS I ran through a local Chevy dealer (first oil change at 530 miles and every 2,500 after that, had 11k on it). Would definitely look there again next time in the market for something used. We paid cash (electronic transfer) and they didn't take the money or continue with paperwork till after 7 days of having the car, tough to beat that, guy that we got it from off the truck said if we didn't like it call and he would come get it no questions asked.
I’ve contacted them about buying from me and they are really close to others on pricing . Seems the way of the we are headed now , but anything a click and delivery away .
I sold my 2017 Miata RF to them. Their offer was substantially higher than CarMax. The transaction was easy, and they picked up the car at my house. I have since heard from the new owner, who found me via YouTube video I had posted about the car. All parties are happy, so win-win.
When I started researching sites for used vettes I was curious about their business plan being that I was a former wholesaler. First I checked for reviews and there were too many negatives. Like Carmax they have to buy what new car dealers don't want. I prefer to buy a used car from a new car dealer who sells them new. That tells me the former owner was happy with the product.

Not defending Carvana. But, IMO you can't compare their offer with a trade in value given by a dealer. A dealer will always make up any deficit by charging more for the vehicle being bought. Its car dealing 101. This Spring Carmax offered me $21,200 for the same GS Carvana gave me over 5K more three weeks ago. We are lucky we have many options to sell. I was trying to unload because I needed the garage space. And, fall/winter were coming. So, Carvana worked for me.

..not necessarily. some of us sell directly to carmax and Carvana to avoid tire kickers, fraudsters and the long wait that can be associated with a private deal. I am sure a dealer would have wanted “in” on the deal but i like Carmax process better.
I personally have sold cars to Carmax and they have been in perfect condition I just didn’t want trade with a dealer or needed to liquidate fast..so every time I sell to a dealer it usually means that I am getting a newer model. My last 07 mustang Gt was not inI good condition ( a major front end accident repair) and Carmax knew it and wouldn’t touch it for a fair median price so I had to trade it in and the trading Ford dealer didn’t care,,they gave me max kbb for it and sold it a week later for a 1k profit. I liked the car but it ate front tires. Also the carfax report did not the show the front end collision but I told the dealer and he was more interested in selling a new Ford Explorer than worrying about the next guy.
Carmax is usually right on with their offer..usually the kbb median value..we have to realize that they are in it for profit and the car may sit awhile on their lot.. in most cases they measure to make about 2 to 4K off each deal... A private seller would accept that if it was taking a long time to sell their car to a private buyer or they needed to liquidate right away.
Bottom line it all depends on the OP choice..but going in and knowing he has options might give him some insight.

Exactly...I guess the valuation depends on different factors .
it looks like Carvana gives different quotes depending on factors like , market, area your in and condition of your car if you’re selling.
i did their Carvana process on line 3 weeks ago and they offered about 42500 for my 2017 z51 M7 lt1 with 6,450 miles.. a week later Carmax offered me 45,000 on the nose.. difference is they saw the car in person, it was very clean and had extras like full ground effects and stage 2 wing and did I mention very clean. I decided to hang on it to it but I was tempted since it was a more than fair offer.
Carvana. probably uses a tool like kbb or edmunds it seems the difference Carmax had a chance to evaluate mine in person..
Op if your are selling and can hold out for a private party then do that or if you are in need of a quick sale then consider getting valuations from the dealer, Carmax and Carvana they are all free valuations.
I sold my 2011 GS Convertible to Carvana. I had just bought a 17 2lz ZO6 from a forum member. I purchased the GS from a private seller for $31500 and drove it 2 years . Sold to Carvana for $31,000 the whole transaction was painless. I’d use them again.
I sold my last car to Carvana -- unbelievable experience -- They barely looked at my car before handing me a check that beat carmax by $1200. The offer they gave me was middle of the KBB range, and was more than I was asking at private sale.
They even paid the uber to bring me back to my house (an hour away) after sale.
It appears when selling to any dealer, their offer can be good or great depending on the time of year and demand for the type of car you are selling. My friend just bought his 3 vehicle (1 was a C7) from CarMax. They shipped them all in from elsewhere in the country and If they do like it they are only on the hook for a low transport fee. The were more them happy for the 3rd time. The latest was a 2019 Durango that looked spotless with 17,000 miles.

You make a good point about buying a used C7. I put a premium on buying from a Chevy dealer instead of a non-GM dealer or a gravel lot. It was clear to me that most of the really nice used C7s were held onto buy Chevy dealers, with a few Cadillac/Buick dealers getting some as well. Gravel lots pretty much got all the dregs, high mileage, problem carfax or customized changes to the C7. I paid a few dollars more to buy a certified used Vette from a Chevy dealer who knew the complete background of the car because they sold it new.
But when it comes to selling the C7, I'd sell to the highest, reputable dealer offer.
