Feel better about keeping my C7 after reading the C8 reviews

I wonder how many of these topics there were when the C7 was announced, and how many people were keeping their C6's instead. Personally, I'll move to C8 when they announce the performance model and work out the bugs. So about 2022-2023. Until then, I'm going to keep my C7.

Still get that special feeling every time I walk in the garage and see my C7 Z51 7 speed manual. No rush to get C8.

Am sure that Tadge and his band of merry elves did a great job designing, engineering and manufacturing the C8 but starting with an all new engine, drive train, body and suspension leaves no shortage of places for Murphy to slip in...
An old aviation saying is "never fly the "A" model of any airplane" and I reckon it will take a couple of years for the glitches to be worked out.
Despite the incredible engineering and design work, for me the absence of a manual trans was a non starter, making it an easy choice to buy a '19 M7 built in August - sort of the "last of the breed", and have been very happy do be DRIVING it while the first C8 deliveries are over six months away...

C8 was never on the radar for me. I ordered my C7 Z51 the day after the Reveal. I just couldn't see myself riding around in it. IMO, the C7 looks like what I think a Vette should look like. Long hood, short deck and a nice power bulge. Also, three pedals. Not a hater. I wish the C8 and the early adopters well.
Damn glad I bought a real Corvette, the C7.

lower G's than c7? says who/where? at least in the article above, the c8 turned harder.. 1.32 vs 1.3, not like most would even notice though. i want a C8 but not nearly enough to deal with all the bullshit that'd be involved in getting one any time soon. in the meantime i'll just jump into my 7 speed batmobile, which happens to fit me perfectly, and drive off with a smile on my face, day in, day out.
Breaking 1.00 average lateral g on the skidpad is an accomplishment, but it's easier when you have summer tires rather than all-seasons, and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S included in the Z51 package is very much a summer tire. With it,the C8 Z51 pulled 1.04 average lateral g on the skidpad—which is actually less than a C7 Z51, which pulled as much as 1.11 average lateral g on the Pilot Super Sports that preceded the Pilot 4S.
0.7g is a pretty big difference!!!
Think of the difference between 0.87g and 0.94g in sedans and sport cars.....that's massive.

Absolutely never on my radar as of early 2017, when it was confirmed that they did away with the manual transmission, and the true convertible flat rear deck. I was 100% in C7 at that point on. My new 2017 Stingray convertible M7 MSRC, is the best new Corvette I'll probably ever own. Bar none!

C7 vs C8
I just bought an 18 GS with 87 miles on the odo. I wanted a C8 until I sat in one.
Harder for me to get in and out. Too much electronics as well. I think the C8 is the evolution of Corvette changing its customer base from 65 and up to 35 -50. Can’t blame them for that. I went for my C7 because the price was +-$55K which was my budget and it got me a loaded GS vs a base C8. I’ll reconsider the C8 when and if I can find a nice gently used 2023. Hope I’ll still be active enough to want a C8.

I got up close and personal with the C8 that GM showcased at my dealer a week ago. Very different corvette from what we are used to but so was the C7. I liked it but not enough to order at present. Do like the fact that you can raise front up 1.5 inches for bumps and GPS remembers 1000 locations for that feature, will come with all season tires prob. stingray only, will make for right and left drivers, seems to have more leg room than my C7 GS. No chrome wheels so didn't like that. Six inches longer and 2 inches wider than C7. Kinda cool where all the controls are, narrow strip or band on console. Liked the added HP 490 or 495 if I remember correctly. Like the base price 60K. Not a hater or lover at this point will have to drive one before I decide to order.

As soon as I heard there was no manual on the C8, I lost interest. Plus I enjoy a real convertible not a targa look alike.
PS— goodbye gorgeous view of the swooping hood from the drivers seat.

If you want to feel even better, the c8 is effectively not faster around a track too. C&D tested two z51s back to back, and the c8 with a dsg, better aero, newere tires, more power, and "midengine supremacy" was 0.9 seconds faster around the track. That's "put the same pilot sport 4s tires on the c6 and it's faster" close.
The C8 is a total dud of a car. Sadly, I think Corvette has seen its last generation launch. GM really screwed the pooch on this car, which isnt surprising since theyve been on a non stop losing streak with new cars.

I will be keeping my C7. The C8 is a great car and I do like it. My problem is no manual and no access to the storage like in the C7. When we take a trip we pack a cooler and my wife can reach into the cooler to gets drinks or snacks. Everything I read on the Car and Driver comparison the C8 out did the C7 completely on the track. faster around the course higher G's in the corners and is easier to drive fast. Both cars had summer tires and their alignments adjusted for use on the track. The C8 is a great car and will accomplish great things
