I need to replace battery in my 2016 C7 Stingray. Called the dealer for a price. Asked about price on AGM battery. They told me AGM battery is not recommended and that they did not stock it. Why is that? Is there a downside to putting in an AGM?
I have another question. Has anyone figured out a..method to lift the old battery out?
Bought a replacement battery for my 2016 C7 Stingray at Walmart, believe it or not. Platinum EverStart AGM 760 CCA with a 5 year full replacement warranty a bargain price of $149.99.
Ran into a problem. Got everything disconnected on dead battery except removal of fuse block mounted on top of battery. Cannot dislodge it. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions or hints. Don’t want to do any damage. Cannot remove battery until fuse block is removed.
Any help is appreciated.

Reason: Battery install problem
Loop a rope under the battery, buy a strap that attaches to the battery posts, buy some other tool. The strap I bought did not fit, so I used a piece of rope.

Not surprising they don't recommend an item they don't keep in inventory. This is a dealership, they are very much inside-the-box thinkers, low risk OEM items only. Ask them about aftermarket brake pads (which are clearly superior) and you'll get the same response - not recommended.
I run AGM batteries in my boat - they outlast lead acid batteries by a long shot. I swear by them
If the battery in a C7 leaks, where does the acid go?
Does it destroy something important like on some earlier generations, or just dribble down into a tray and sits there?

Well, it's in the rear well and the only thing under it might be an exhaust pipe or the road.
Been running an AGM for 2 years and using the factory battery tender with no problems. Car sits 6 months through the winter. Bought a cheap terminal strap at parts store for $6. It worked great except the battery wants to tilt and you need to keep it straight with the other hand. A third set of hands would have helped since it is a little awkward and heavy for a one hand lift.
GM doesn't recommend or stock a high quality AGM battery because they cost more for new build cars. Putting a low quality battery in at the factory and selling a better version at dealers has bad optics. Im changing my battery tomorrow at 3.5 years as preventative maintenance.

I would agree, except-
Last time I looked, there was a GM replacement battery for the C7 that had more power or longer warranty (can't remember which) than what comes in the car new.
Jim. I always respect your view. Up here in Toronto , not too far from the beautiful city of Chicago, our dealers only stock the crap batteries. I may have over generalized.

Or maybe I was wrong.
Also, I'm not sure if our local dealer actually stocked the "better" Delco battery, or they had to be special ordered.
I'll find out next Spring, our original battery will be three years since we bought the car new, and 3 1/2 years from manufacture. If I can't get it replaced under warranty, I'll buy a new one as a preventive measure and will pay extra for the "better" version if available.
I replaced the battery in my 2014 earlier this year because the it didn’t seem to charge on my short (22 mile) trip to lunch like it use too and start ups seemed a little sluggish. So I replaced it before it failed...(not bad - a factory battery lasted 5 years plus).
I wanted to get the Diehard AGM that Elmer mentioned above - but they didn’t have stock at that time and I was fired up and in a hurry to get it done.
Someone else in this forum had recommended www.batteriesplus.com so I picked up a battery from them - it was a little more expensive than the diehard - $219 vs $279 - but included a 5 year warranty over the Sears 3 year. Part number SLI48AGMDP. I did the work myself - the weight of the battery made the work awkward- I did buy a strap to lift the battery from Pep Boys. There are instructions in this forum or elsewhere for the removal and replacement - check it out before doing it - get a helper - you may need a extra hand because of the weight and the angle you have to have to drop it back in place. (I know I wish I had a helper 😂.
A great advantage of AGM is the depth of discharge of 80% over the flooded (50%).

Got a good deal at Walmart of all places. Bought a Platinum EverStart group size H6 which is a group size 48 for $149.99. Unreal price for an AGM 760 CCA with a 5 year fully replaceable warranty.
Starting removal of dead battery following step by step instructions from midenginecorvette website. Got as far as removal of fuse block. Frustrated, so I’m taking a break with a glass of wine.
Any suggestions as to why am having this problem? Any hints, etc.
