Default Rear Camera - 2014 - view changed?

I have a 2014 and just this past week I noticed now I can see part of my license plate as well as the normal view out the rear of the car. I didn't use to see my plate, has something changed , could they have done an update via Onstar or something. Just very odd. Here is what I see now...

My '14 has always looked like that.

I am pretty sure no OnStar or other software update could change this... its just a camera and a monitor.

Thanks for the response, odd. Up until now I could never see the plate, the rest was there. I couldn't figure out how it was updated either since I haven't had any service done this year at
a GM dealer. One of life's little mysteries, head scratcher. At least I know it is showing me what others see, now.

I hear you but honestly up until now I have never seen that view. Normally we would see a foot or so back of the car and beyond only, use that camera view a lot as my wife and I go to a gym regularly where I need it for their parking lot as well as backing out of our garage as a sidewalk crosses my driveway. So it is a regular occurrence to use it. My wife and I saw the license plate show up for the first time today, she noticed it first. I bought the car new in '14. Regardless, not like it's a problem just the strangest thing after owning a car for 5 yrs. Thanks guys !!

You got me wondering so I went out and checked the view on my '14 because I did not recall ever seeing any of the plate, either. But, sure as can be, it shows up much the way yours does in the picture. I never noticed it before. Thanks a lot - it's going to bug me now!

I bought my '14 last November and the rear camera has always shown that same view of my license plate.

My '14 has always shown just what you have in your pic.
This pic was taken in July 2014.

Mines the same. I figured it was set up that way to judge the distance from the rear of the car to whatever could be in the way better.

This view is usual, I think. It's possible that something moved to change the view slightly, but it's also possible that little slice of license plate didn't register on you until recently, and of course now you see it every time.

My 2015 did not show any license tag then one day after work I put it into reverse and I have the same view as the OP. I immediately got out and looked for damage but found nothing. Got it to my home and into the garage and did a very close inspection with a bright LED flashlight and once again nothing. Totally stumped. I'm not the original owner and the car had some very minor gap issues on the rear bumper that seemed to have worsened so I thought maybe a hard bump had moved the rear bumper. I took it to my Corvette guy to remove the rear fascia, add diffuser fins and while he was at it fix the gap issues. He advised me someone had been back there before - this was not the first time the bumper had been off the car! Anyway, he fixed the gaps and the camera view remains the same. I have always wondered and it's good to hear that seeing part of the license plate is normal.

Now the other camera issue is when I back into a parking spot and the lines match up perfectly with the parking lot stripes, I always end of with the passenger wheels on the stripe and lot's of space on the driver's side. So I have to use good old "Kentucky Windage" to back into a parking space! My understanding is there is no way to adjust the camera. Is that correct?

You can't adjust the camera (or the way the lines display side-to-side), but you can choose whether you want the side-view mirrors to adjust down and in when in R.

That can help with line adjustment, and/or curb alignment.

Thanks for this information. Is that available for 1LT trim without the memory option?

Found the answer. Requires 2LT or higher to have memory function. Good information for those with 2LT and 3LT trims.
