Default Engine coolant system works too well?

Hello,
I have been driving normally for 45minutes when the gauge pointer of the coolant system goes down to 180°F. Consequently the RPM limit when the engine is not hot enough appeared.
Do you think is that something I have to worry about?
It is the second time I notice that on my car this week.

Not sure if you bought your Vette used or not. If so you may have a 160 thermostat in it. So that should be changed to stock

It is a 2017 one, bought it in 2017 with 400 mileage to a Corvette dealership.

What you described is not normal, I would not hazard a guess other than the thermostat, perhaps others here will help.

Any problem with your coolant level or a bad smell at the exhaust? Keep us informed what you find out at the dealer and good luck!

Gauge pointer is always moving. Never stable.

Thermostat stuck open (failed) most likely.

My 17 GS does the same thing. When the ambient temps are cold enough and you maintain a cruising speed it cools down far enough to set the RPM restriction colors. For me 70 F and below on the highway triggers the RPM color band. The colder it is outside, the more often it occurs. It returns to normal when I run through the gears and RPM enough to bring heat back into the coolant.

I think I remember someone checking this same issue out at their dealer and was told that if there was a cooling or heating issue, a code would be thrown. Not sure if it is a sensor issue or a tstat issue, but worth a check at the dealership. I'm fine with it occasionally running a little cooler, better than running hot.
Still interested to hear what your dealer said. GL

I've driven my '17 GS in some pretty cold temps (at or near freezing) for extended periods and have never had that happen.

Never seen that happen with my '14. Perhaps it is a thermostat issue. Hope it is something that simple.

We have a 2017 Z51 A8

When fully warmed up, the coolant indicates about 180' and the oil about 180'.
In cold weather, they are lower. Last year on a long drive ~70 mph and outside temp about 40', the oil temp dropped down to 160 and coolant down to about 170.
The yellow band did not appear on the tach, it usually disappears as the car warms up when our oil and coolant get to 125' and has never come back on during a drive. I wonder what OP's oil temp was when the restriction re-appeared?

Never noticed it on my '17 GS either. Once fully warmed up mine says very near 195° whether weather is cool or in summer gridlock traffic, and I only see the RPM rollback while warming up normally. I wonder if the OP has a sticky thermostat.

I have a 2019 GS. Mine has done this since day 1. Exactly as op describes. Anything under 70 degrees or so and just crossing will cause my temp to drop
