I was under the impresion that the Data Recorder would come with the 2LT Package. Found out the hardway that my car does not thave it. Any Ideas anybody mt1949@gmail.com
It’s an option unless one gets 3LT or 3LZ. On my 2LZ it came as an option. Honestly if one tracks the car it may be worth it. Otherwise I’d suggest a good dashcam.

If you plan on tracking the car you will have to find an aftermarket solution. It is very expensive to add the PDR after purchase.

...and I found out the hard way that a 2014 Z51 3LT might have NAV, but not necessarily the PDR. I kind of wish I had it for when I go to Gingerman, Grattan or Waterford Hills next summer. I guess PDR was introduced in 2015?

It's not too hard or too expensive to add, it just depends on what you consider hard or expensive
I installed one on my 1LZ and it works just fine. I'll have my sons' car done in a week or so as soon as I get some free time.

I wonder if it can be installed on my 2014 model? Heck, I completely rewired an '84 Trans Am to feature a port fuel injected, T56 6-speed equipped power train so surely it couldn't be harder than that...

I'll let you know very soon. I just started putting one in my 2014 yesterday.

One thing I did as a shortcut was I used a Y connector to split the GPS antenna I installed under the left speaker for the HMI upgrade to the PDR and it works fine. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H89BGLC
I connected the splitter to the HMI then ran this to the PDR https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P5CTDFY
I was going to use the hardware splitter shown in the picture but it wasn't necessary.
YMMV
I bought the original GPS antenna. Once I know for sure everything works, I'll pull the fender off to mount it permanently.
Did you purchase everything new, and did you create a parts list, along with costs? I am interested to know if this is a $1500 or $2500 sort of project

I got most of it on eBay. I've got part numbers and prices scattered around. I'll try to do a detailed write up once I'm done.
Looking forward to seeing how this was done. The PDR is one of things I wish my 2014 had as I track my car. In fact as I type this I am actually working on my Harry's LapTimer / GoPro download, sync and overlay process from this weekend at Sebring.
That was a big thing I had to have with my install. I wasn't going to cut or alter any part of the factory harness. So I'm building a couple of overlay harnesses plug in between the OnStar and Radio modules. The worst part was finding all the factory connectors and pins. At least they're available though.
Did you build all yours from scratch?
We used this for the radio https://www.ebay.com/itm/222935262350
The HMI adapter harness came from an old camera kit for a Tahoe or something and the rest from Mouser.
------------------------
Gray connector for short PDR cable - 33472-1202 black
Connector for short PDR cable - 33472-1201
Terminals for PDR connectors - 538-33012-2022-CT
Connector for SD Card module - AIT2PB-06-1AK
Terminals for SD module connector and radio connector - SAITS-A03T-M064
Both of my PDR's came with the short PDR Harness but the GM PN for that is: 84030546, you can build it too by I don't know the part numbers for all fo that off-hand.
I'm building my overlay harnesses from scratch. I got some of the USB and LVDS cables from a damaged 2018 dash harness I picked up off eBay. But those are available as separate service parts, so don't need a whole harness. I had to buy the PDR-to-display cable new because the one in the eBay harness was cut off.
From what I read the water blue LVDS cables are a 'universal plug' and can be used on any color connector.
I haven't tried it yet but maybe in my son's car I will.
