Hi guys. As I scan the various threads in this forum, I am finding out more and more information on these wonderful C7s that I didn’t realize.
Just this morning, I learned that the performance exhaust has different exhaust tips than the regular exhaust...who knew?
Anyway, that got me thinking about asking a silly question regarding model identification.
I am having trouble with identifying visually the differences between the Z06 and the Grand Sport. The stingray seems easy, as it has the stingray emblem on it. The other 2 are a little more difficult, as from a distance, where they put the Z06 and the Grand Sport badge seems to be in the same place. It does seem that the Grand Sport has the front fender stripe going over top of it (although not all seem to have this).
So, my fellow forum members, do you have any tips you could pass along to me in this endeavor, or any other cool information such as the exhaust tip thing?
Thanks in advance.
Dale.

Easiest differences to spot
Z06 has clear tail light lenses, GS (and other versions) have red ones
The side cove vents are different and says either Grand Sport or Z06 depending on model
The Z06 verbiage on the side vent is higher than the Grand Sport. From a distance the location of the wording is easy to spot without being able to read it.
Stingray = chrome strip grille
GrandSport \ Z06 - No chrome strip\more grid like grille and designated air ducks, front spliter that connects to the wheel splats, different spoiler that it taller and clear in the middle
ZR1 = completely different bumper that looks like full hamster cheeks, and a huge racing-like spoiler

There is a flag on the field with this one. The Stingray will USUALLY have the chrome strip in the grille -- but NOT (as is the case with my car) if it has the 'black carbon flash package'. If it has this, the Stingray emblem, grille, front and rear insignia will be black rather than chrome. No silly chrome strip that makes the car appears as though it is wearing a retainer.
I do - at times - have trouble telling a GS from a Z06 from a distance, but the Stingray is a lot easier if seen from the side. Note that more than a few Stingray and GS owners have installed the 'clear' Z06 tail lights in an effort to make their car look faster.

To me that is the first and easiest thing I look for, if your viewing the car from the side.

Yes but do you know how to tell a Z51 from a base? The best identifier is the drilled/slotted brake rotors. Only the Z51 came with drilled/slotted rotors. Many base cars have added the Z51 spoiler either at the factory as an option or after market so that's not always a good identifier. The wheels used to be a good indicator but any base that has mag ride also has the larger Z51 wheels and in 2018, the larger Z51 wheels became standard on all base cars, so not so much any more. It's rare to find a base that changed the rotors to drilled/slotted so that's the best indicator.

At some point the C7 had drilled rotors? I don't remember ever seeing that.
on the Z06 you get a black emblem package, you have to pay $100 more for a chrome emblem package. On a Stingray you get a chrome emblem package, you have to pay $100 more for a black emblem package.
