I get this error message when I plug in my flash drive in any of the 3 usb slots in my 2015. This flash drive works perfectly in my 2014. It has music on it. What is wrong? Any ideas?

I assume you press the media button and get the error message.

2015 manual says Fat32 and NTFS are supported. You can check your drive's format by plugging the USB into your computer, right click on the USB drive letter, and select Properties.

exFAT is not supported.

Have you tried another USB drive?

Yes I press the "Media" button and then get the error message. The drive is FAT 32. That right click on properties let me find it. Thanks. Yes, I tried another drive and it didn't work either. That drive also works in another car. This drive I have in my hand worked in this car yesterday but now won't. I've plugged, unplugged, used all 3 slots, started and stopped the car with the drive in and out, everything I can think of.

So the obvious question is what if anything changed on the car between yesterday and today?

You didn't mention any recent work around the console or screens so it is not likely a main / common cable is suddenly loose.

Obviously the USB connectors have power and are at least partially connected to the system, but USB drives are not being read properly.

I guess the last thing you can try is to disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 min or so to force electronics to reboot.

BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY OPEN BOTH WINDOWS AND UNLOCK THE DOORS! This will prevent frustration later.

You'll need to reindex the windows after.

After this I'm out of ideas.

GL

Yeah, nothing changed between yesterday and today.
I'll wait a couple of days and see if it fixes itself. It just p's me off.
Thank you very much for the suggestions. I appreciate you taking the time to try and help.
Now I know how to tell how my flash drive is formatted!

This reminds me of years of industrial control systems engineering and troubleshooting:

We used to call this PFM, as in "I didn't find anything wrong. But it works now. What did you do? Nothing. Must have been PFM."

Anyway, I'm glad it works now!

Enjoy the car.

PFM is also how the 767/757 Flight management system works!
