I remember all the negative comments about the C7 listed in the C6 section about 6 years ago.
Now, many of those same posters own and love the C7.
What I've seen of the C8 I like, but I like my trunk space so no C8 for me for at least a while. But I haven't seen anything inside or out that turns me off or I see as a problem.

How often do you change HVAC controls? Changing HVAC controls on my C7 also requires a look down...

The floating screen allows for a lower dash and doesn’t require the additional molding required for in dash placement.

I am not interested because of the no manual, but the interior is an upgrade to the C7 with one exception, the infotainment screen has a lot of glare which could be bothersome under certain lighting. The C7 screen has virtually no glare. Just my opinion.

Re: Big Screen / Steering Wheel

I agree aesthetically they aren't the best. However this is where they are putting function over beauty. To have a screen that big you'd have to have a much bigger dashboard which would impact view. Same with the steering wheel, its functional and lets you see the entire multi function display.

Precisely. Both are excellent design decisions.

The button placement cleans up the dash and is enjoyably different.

I have not seen one in person, so only going by the pictures. I like the steering wheel. I have the flat bottom on my C7 and frequently wish the top was flat also. The row of buttons is definitely different and first impression is OK. The screen on the other hand looks like the designers forgot about it and tried to throw it in at the last minute. Not integrated into the overall design of the dash.

I'm guessing we all saw the hour long Jay Leno Sebring Orange convertible review with Tadge the other day? at no time during the hour long review was a manual stick shift transmission mentioned, discussed or brought up in any way - the design team are done with it and they have moved on.

I wouldn't go that far on the exterior, however, the overall interior is worse than the exterior.

Exactly. However, it's 《the interior》 actually worse in person.

Dont you think these buttons are too small and too close together to the point where you will be REQUIRED to take your eyes off the road and look down?
Now look at the dashboard - dont you think this screen looks "thrown together" and rather awkwardly placed?
Just looking for others input and opinions to see if they feel the same as I do. Again - I wish nothing but the utmost success for the C8 out of respect for the "Corvette" name but sadly I think they just missed the mark completely with the interior.
Other than your complete acceptance of the exterior, my views parallel yours.

Hmm, the checklist,

Carbon Fiber wheels: nope
dct sourced from a experienced dct maker: nope
Car designed by a visionary ala a new "Bill Mitchell" : nope, just another wind tunnel blob accessorized by committee
car lighter than previous generations: nope
car lighter than first c2 Z06: nope 285 lbs heavier
car sold by a company with outstanding customer care and service: nope and nope
car manufactured by a company whose experienced workers are dedicated to the company:
nope, 400 new workers who have never built a car before have been hired just to build the Blob.
nope, 56% of existing on-strike-no pay Bowling Green workforce did not ratify the new employment contract.
I've enjoyed being an unpaid beta tester for GM: nope

sounds like a sure fire winner.

First - there are more than just HVAC controls. Second - I personally change the controls often (adjusting the fan and or temp as needed). Also in comparing to the C7, the HVAC controls are much closer to the windshield than all the controls on the C8 - meaning you dont have to look down as you will for the C8.

I sat in three C8s and I could not disagree with the OP more.. I really like everything about the C8 interior including the row of buttons which allowed the design team to lower the dashboard by a full two inches which gave the largest forward visibility ever.

Check out my Facebook Live post from the Corvette Museum 25th Anniversary in Bowling Green. You’ll see my first unfiltered reaction the first time I sat in the C8. In the subsequent days I was able to spend a fair amount of time in two other C8 and my love of the interior only grew. BTW, the fit and finish along with the quality of the material used in the interior did not disappoint. No wonder all the trade magazines are saying the level of material used exceeded their expectations especially for a car at this price point.

I always thought the screen looked like an afterthought. In the c7 it was integrated into the dash. The way i like it. I don't like how so many brands are moving to this pop-out\stuck on look for the screens. Just doesn't flow to me.

I will not be getting one. I thought it looked pretty cool when I saw the live stream of the intro event, but not so much after seeing it in person... styling is too busy with sharp angles and creases. Looks like something that'll appeal to 13 year old boys who will put posters of it on their bedroom walls.

Default Safety Hazard?

As mention earlier...steering wheel is ugly and all the buttons on the surrounding arm rest may be a safety hazard (eyes off the road before learning controls). I love everything else about the interior. Yes, I have sat in one (more leg room then my C7).

From the RAV 4 Hybrid I just bought to Mercedes and others, the screen somewhat appearing to be attached as an afterthought is becoming very common. The advantage is it sits up well within sight lines but it looks like it was forgotten and stuck on......nit picky but true

I like the C8 and will wait for the Z06 version. Even the base is a significant upgrade from my point of view. But the display screen looked to me as if when they finished designing the interior that someone spoke up and said "Hey! What about the display screen?" Woops. "We're just going to have to fit it in".
That won't keep me from buying the car. I'll just get used to it.
The HVAC controls are fine with me. When I sat in the car you can use them by touch and feel. With the C7 ever since I had the car it has been on the same setting. Auto and 72 degrees. You either look down at the dash on the C7, or over and down on the C8.
But if you think the interior is horrible I understand. All subjective. If I were you I would definitely pass on the C8.
I like the looks of the C7 better than the C8, but overall the things I like about the C8 will not deter me from buying one. I like speed and horsepower so the Z06 version will fit the bill for me.

No real interest in the C8 unless I have another (clutch) knee surgery.

The scenario is exactly the same for buttons on the dash.
