So I'm driving into work at 4:30 am. Only traffic was one car next to me on a two lane 50mph Rd when all of a sudden there's a dead deer in the road lying on its side. With no time to stop and the lane next to me occupied I had to drive over it. Not a pleasant experience. I check all gauges, nothing amiss, nothing smoking so I continue slowly the remaining four miles.
Get out and no damage to front except the sir deflector. No biggie. Had some blood on front bumper but that came right off.
A few hours later someone comes in and says my alarm is going off. I hit the key fob on the way out the door and it stopped. That's when I hit the panic button on the remote to rest it but instead of a loud constant beep, I get three short chips and turn signals flash.
Am I wrong or isn't the panic button supposed to trigger a loud repetitive beep until cancelled?
Ps: interior smells like venison.....and not Ina good way......
Did your car just glance off of it or did you truly “drive over it”? I can’t imagine truly driving over a deer in a Corvette without doing extensive damage to the car, particularly any exposed mechanical parts under the car... I’m glad that it didn’t result in a true wreck. I’ve seen deer, coyotes, foxes, etc. within the last few weeks of driving.
Today must be deer day ... I was out before sunrise, driving home from coffee shop when a huge buck stepped out of the brush right in front of me and slowly strolled across the road. I had to slam on the brakes. Luckily I was in my F-150 not Corvette.
I would sure have it checked out. I ran over a squirrel and I thought I had went to hell and back. Fortunately all it did was get caught in the left rear wheel well and spun around like it was in a squirrel cage and dislodged the mud flap or whatever you call it. Snapped back in. And also scored the felt material in the wheel well. But just that little animal felt like I ran over a buffalo.
I hit an alligator on I4 in Tampa, though my Grand Cherokee was going to roll over. I could see running over a deer down here...dam things are so small in comparison to northern deer.
I gave up Harleys not long ago when I barely missed one crossing the road in front of me one night. They're everywhere near my home, always in my front yard:

I just put my car away for the winter. Deer are running everywhere up here in Pennsylvania? Hunting season starts Saturday so they will be running wild everywhere
I hit a dear when my 19 C7 was four days old....4k in damage...it was 4 hours after our first grandchild was born...an emotional day to say the least. But. I love deae and think they are great, and beautiful creatures. Not his fault that he was killed, I felt bad for the animal - but I felt worse for the Chevy!
This is mating season so the deer are even worse right now. My local body shop guy said he recently wrote 16 body damage estimates in one day from deer damage.

Oh no, it was dead over it. Felt like driving over a rolled up rug. I am as surprised as you are but I drove the 50 miles home tonight and it rode just fine. No noises, rattles steering or braking issues.....just that gawd awful smell

You lucked out - $4K.
I hit an armadillo at xxx speed and did $6K in my C6.
A suicidal deer jumped in front of my Acura RSX Type-S. It cartwheeled over the roof and landed in a snow filled culvert. Got up and ran away leaving me with $4800 in damage.

Time for an underbody wash. You probably still have some of what's left of it under there.
